My 14 week LO loves to be held but hates the carrier/wrap. From birth she was hyperalert, and I think she just hates having her head smushed on my chest. Bouncing/singing/pacing helped, and sometimes got her to snooze for a bit, but it took so much energy I couldn't see the point. Often times when I hold her in my arms I face her out, so I will probably try the carrier again outward facing, but we're both so traumatized by all the fussing in the carrier/wrap that I'm not really motivated to try again.

FWIW, this has been a huge disappointment for me. I really looked forward to baby wearing, and all the books/blogs/guides had me convinced it would be a great soother for a fussy baby. Ha!

Are you only trying at home or while you're out and about, too? DS1 lived attached to me for the first year of his life. At our house, walking, errands, other people's houses - he was on my body. DS2 will ONLY tolerate being worn when we are outside or running errands. Not in our house, not in other people's homes. He's been this way since day 1 and he's 19 months old now, lol.

Ds1 also fought it until he was older and could face out. So we never really baby wore and Dh did it more often.
Ds2 likes a mobylike wrap I have so I use it sometimes.

DD fought it too here and there in the beginning... And she is an active/curious baby too, so facing in is really only when she's tired or needs a nap, otherwise she arches to look around too. So that's why I have an Ergo360, even though she won't forward face forever, it's worth it for us. She's been forward facing since 5 ish months till now, 8.5 months. I really need to practice hip carry and back carry!

@pawprints thank you that's helpful. I'll keep trying at different times in the day. She wants to be swaddled 20+ hours a day so I would think the Moby would be similar but nope. I think I have been mostly trying to use it when she's fussy though.

@mamabehr I do try moving around and bouncing on the yoga ball with her in it. Doesn't seem to matter.

@twodoghouse yes! Exactly I keep trying when she is fussy because I think it will help her. I'll try during her happier times now. Outside also sounds like a great idea. Will try that too!

@ldh122 this is exactly what I do, but it feels so odd holding her head when we out and about. I feel like strangers think I am crazy letting my baby hang out in that position.

It's possible she just doesn't like to be constrained. I've worn my DD since she was one month old, but she's sort of like that. Even now (15 months) she prefers a hip carry in a woven because it's much less constricting than a tummy to tummy carry in the Moby. I had the best luck by putting her in, then going outside immediately and walking around our backyard. Something about the breeze outside helped calm her down. Also, it seems counter-intuitive because I always wanted to wear one of my LOs when they were melting down, but at first I could only wear them when they were in a good mood. If they were tired or grouchy, wearing them was only going to exacerbate that. Now when they are grouchy I can throw them into the Tula but when they were little it would just make them grumpier. Can you try nursing or bottle feeding her while she's on you? That may relax her and get her feeling cozy in it. Good luck! I hope you have a breakthrough soon so you can wear her while you chase your other LO!

My first didn't like wearing until he could see out and face front. My second isn't fond of it, but adapts. He also likes to look out, but when tired enough will sleep in it. I've been wearing him since he was 8 lbs with an infant insert in my Tula.

My younger one is happy when she can look out but not so much when she can't. She often falls asleep in the wrap (not so much in the Tula) and then I can rest her head against me. But it is also a struggle to get her in - I definitely need to bounce and move or she's unhappy. Now that she is older her favorite carrier is actually the backpack style one because she has the best view from it :D

DD hated my Moby only slept in it twice when she was a few weeks old, she would push off or try to nurse and get pissy
Fast forward I tired again and again as she got older in an Ergo, but she would want out after 10 minutes

She also hated to be swaddled ad an infant, so I do think some just don't like it

My son did not like his Boba after he was a teeny tiny baby - same thing - leans back, have to hold his head, which defeated the babywearing thing for me. We got the Ergo 360 when he was about 11 weeks and he was much happier once he could look out and tolerated being worn much more. He's a sweaty little guy so that might have been part of why he didn't like being worn so much.

L generally likes the wrap when she's tired and/or I'm out somewhere with her. But about half the time she insists on leaning her head back and I have to hold it with my hand. Once she falls more soundly asleep I can tuck her back in properly.

My 8 week old seems to hate my solly baby wrap - if she's sleepy it's worked a couple times as has my boba carrier but I'm worried about the same thing. She twists and bonks her head against me in protest. I will keep trying periodically and maybe borrow an outward facing carrier when the time comes (and sell what I have if she still hates them). I will definitely wait to buy another type given her track record at the moment!

DS didn't take to being worn around that age but I kept doing it at optimal times, like right after a feed or when he was sleepy and after a bit he loved it. Could the moby be too warm? I know stretchy wraps are hot. If you know anyone that has a cotton woven maybe try that?

I could never get my LO to like facing in, so we just couldn't babywear until he could do forward facing. But forward facing hurt my back so it just didn't happen. Hopefully the next one will be more cooperative.

I love babywearing and swear by it. It isn't exactly the same thing, but my 20 month old does not like it if I'm not moving or if I have to sit or stoop to do something. Does she fuss even if you are moving or bouncing?

Lots of babies resist being worn initially. It can feel weird, like they're being squished. Try getting her in a different mood, like when she's really sleepy, and move and bounce around a lot to soothe her. She may warm up to it if you keep trying.

If she doesn't relax, it is possible she may be interested in what's going on around her, though 6 weeks would be super early for that. My 4.5-month-old DD just started pushing against me and turning her head around, so that's how I knew it was time to forward-face her. You won't be able to do that until your LO can hold her head up, though.

This is baby #2 for me, she is 6 weeks old and very large. Baby wearing is pretty critical since I have a toddler too. With LO1 I used both a Moby and an Ergo which were great, but this LO pushes against me so hard in either carrier like she is doing a push up or tummy time. She hyperflexes her neck back and won't allow me to move her head forward so I have to hold her head with me hand the whole time I am wearing her. Any suggestions or tips??
