Totally realistic and babies generally stay very warm in the wrap. Couple tricks that can help are making sure baby has a hat and feet are tucked in. Also, you can wear a pashmina or something like that over your coat to drape around you and baby. The less elegant solution is to wear a coat that's big enough to wrap around you and baby (which is what I often did!)

This is a really good question since we'll be walking DS to daycare starting in February when I head back to work. It's only about a 2 1/2 block walk but I wasn't sure if my daycare would be ok with us leaving the stroller there all day since it might take up precious room.

TThey make coats specifically designed to button over you and your baby. I think they are called papooses? They sell them on the ergo website, I plan on getting one! I figure I will get a lot of use out of it since it is pretty chilly and rainy where I live.

@Mrs.B: I see. So, you would leave him strapped in the car until you had the baby in the moby and you could hold him tight? That makes sense-- running in a parking lot/street is not good.

@Mrsbells: @Foodnerd81: @MamaMoose: DS is a runner so I have to hold his hand nice and tight to ensure he doesn't run into traffic since there are alot of cars in the AM. I think the carrier will just be to heavy and I won't be able to have a good enough hold on DS.

I agree it seems a lot easier to just pop out the car seat and carry him in that than to take him out of the car seat, put him in the wrap, then out of the wrap and back in the car seat.

Could you not just leave him in his car seat, if it is an infant one that snaps out? Or is that more work and hassle than putting him in the moby? I think it would be fine if you just zip your coat over both of you and he is already dressed warmly. (Or she, to all of those :)

that sounds fine! The moby is actually pretty warm and being that it is just walking across a parking lot, I think you all should be great!

@Mrs.B: Oh I thought you were talking your child to school from home, I didnt realize it was just from the parking lot. I think you should be fine for such a short distance. You could also throw a blanket over your LO whilst in the moby
Alternatively you can just take them out in the carseat. i think that might be easier especially if your LO is asleep

I just zip my coat up over the Moby. DS is 5 months and just now getting too big for me to zip my coat up around him completely (his arms stick out now, lol).

@Mrsbells: It's not far just from the parking lot to the school. I can see my car from where I meet DS's teacher I just don't feel comfortable leaving LO in the car.

Boba recently bought Peekaru. Will one of those work with your moby? Boba has their own wrap so I would imagine they would have something that would work. http://www.bobafamily.com/peekaru/

LO is due Oct 14 and I plan to wear him/her in a Moby Wrap until big enough for the Ergo. I take and pick up DS from Pre K every day. My question is do you baby wearing mama's think it will be ok to get LO out of his/her carrier and put in the Moby to wear while I walk DS to and from his Pre K class? DH thinks it will be to cold for LO but I'm sure I can bundle baby up enough for it to be fine. My plan is to put Moby on before leaving so I will just pop baby in and out without much hassle. Is this realistic? We really don't have anyone else to take DS. The bus is an option but he would be on a full size bus with all of the other elementry kids and I don't think he is ready for that yet.
