I've been using a beco gemini for my 10 month old daughter, but just got an Onya Outback to use during the summer months and to "carry" her through toddlerhood. She just barely sees over the top so I definitely think it's for older babies, and it's made out of lighter weight fabric for the hot weather.

@brownie: Thanks for the insight. I think I'll be carrying for at least a year more, if not longer, so I think it may mean that we can invest in another.

@mrsjazz: Yeah. I had a feeling about the limitations to the Gemini. I keep hearing good things about the Tula, so I will check it out. Thanks!

@BKCaribBaby: I stopped using the Beco Gemini and switched to a Tula Toddler Carrier when LO was about 11 months old. It was a little too big when I bought it for LO, I think minimum weight was 25 lbs and she was 20 when I bought it but still fit it well. It only does front and back carry and I've used it for both.

I have the Gemini and have been using it constantly with my almost 3 year old. It is definitely not the best carrier for bigger kids because the knees end up too low. But since I know we are carrying for much longer, I bought a Tula Toddler.

I have also found that the Ergo is slightly more comfortable to carry bigger kids because I could front carry my niece and nephew as toddlers which I couldn't do with my Gemini. I have to back carry him now.

So it depends on how long you will be carrying. We are moving and will be walking a lot more so I needed a better carrier. I wasn't going to by an Ergo at this age (he just turned 3 and 29 pounds) because he would grow out of that as well.

But the Gemini has worked well enough.

As the title says, I'm trying to figure out babywearing my younger toddler. My LO is almost 13 month. She's still pretty tiny (about 20lbs.), but I want to start wearing her again in the warmer months, especially since we have some trips coming up this summer. I have loved my Beco Gemini, but I am wondering if it will work as she grows. Does anyone use a Gemini for their toddler? Did you buy another carrier as they got older (and heavier)?

Also I'd like to start back carrying. I was going to ask for good resources about figuring out back carrying (I'm kind of a dunce when it comes to these things), but I'm assuming it's based on the carrier, right?

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!
