I know how you feel... DD 2 was EBF and her weight stalled for 3-4 months! I was a wreck. She went from 50th percentile to less than 10... How could I not worry? Her ped was concerned and had us come in monthly for weight checks. But also, in the back of my mind, I knew it was fine because the growth chart he was using was based on FF babies like the previous posters mentioned. However, I still worried.

Well at 9 months, her weight still wasn't stellar (in my eyes) and she went through a long nursing strike with me, so we saw a LC... She analyzed her growth (weight and length) and assured me all was fine. Finally at around Month 10, DD started putting on more weight. I didn't do anything different, DD just started taking in more finally. She also had 4 teeth come in over 6-8 weeks, so that helped with her eating more solids.

Thought this might help ease some of your worries...

It's a growth chart off kellymom that shows how ebf babies don't follow the same growth patterns as ff babies =)

My LO is EBF and definitley didn't gain as much from 4-6 months. I heard this happens with EBF babies. She went from 85th percentile to 50th percentile

I wouldn't worry about it. My son plummeted from the 50th percentile to the 0.5 percentile before anyone said anything. Even then we probably wouldn't have worried if he didn't have bad stools as well (I am certain he wasn't digesting any food). It is normal. My son was not 16 pounds until he was 11 months old.

you shouldn't be worried. olive has weeks where she drinks 3 oz, other times 5oz. babies sometimes eat more, sometimes eat less. don't worry so much! :)

Did he grow in length? I know alot of times baby will "stall" on weight gain because they kind of lean out when they grow in height.

Also, I know kellymom has a link for the WHO growth chart for ebf babies b/c generally they slow down in growth around 6 months and most pedi growth charts are based on ff bebes. =)

My LO is 5 months today. He had a good 4 month check up, weigh at 15 lb 15 oz (50-75%). However, his weight has been stuck / fluctuating at 16 lb for the whole month. (we have a scale at home). That put him at the 25%-50%.

We are exclusively breastfeeding. I nurse him exclusively during the weekends, and during the weekdays he gets 3 bottles of breastmilk from nanny, and 3 nursing sessions with me each day. LO had a few days of nursing strike just last week, but he definitely hasn't been gaining weight since the 4 month check-up.

Instead of growth spurts, he has more of a "non-growth spurt". In the normal days he would take 4-6 oz per feed, but the past 2+ weeks he would have taken 3 oz per feed. Then even though he had gone back to normal lately, he is still not gaining weight regardless of how much milk he's drinking. He would poop 1-3 times a day though and 6-8 wet+dirty diapers during the normal days. On the "non growth / slow days" he gets 5 wet+dirty diapers....

Is this normal, or should I be concerned?
