When my DS switched from breast milk to cow milk at 1, his diapers were also suddenly very full. My theory is that he nursed pretty frequently but in smaller quantities than when he would gulp down 6-8oz of cow milk in one sitting. Don't be too hard on yourself mama!

It sounds very normal. I'm sorry you're struggling through this!! He's getting a lot of nutrition and hydration from that formula. Hugs.

That sounds normal to me. E was changed every 2 hours at daycare at that age, and at home I think she needed to be changed every 2-3 hours at that age as well.

I have noticed that when my son started daycare and I had to supplement with formula his diapers are heavier than at home when I just nurse. I have a low supply so this isn't surprising. I always wondered if that is why in the first few weeks of his life he cried a lot. He was probably hungry! Oops!

Not sure about babies, but I know if I increase my water intake, I pee A LOT more for the first few days until my body adjusts to it. So maybe it'll taper off in a little bit since he's getting more water than he was with breastmilk?

@Danizaur: there is a range of "well" and we do what we can! Like I said that's a good eating day here. She still has bad eating days where she only takes in 20 oz and wets 5-6 diapers. But we can only try our best!

R was being changed every 2 hours at that age as well. It could be his body adjusting as well.

@Mae: Good. Unfortunately that must mean he wasn't doing as well as I thought he was BFing. It was way less frequent than that and a lot less. :(

I don't know that there is such a thing as too many heavy wet diapers. Changing every 2-3 hrs sounds normal to me on good eating days

Eta: we usually go through 8-9 dipes/day before and after each nap at 6,8,10,1,3,5,630,730 + an extra if she poops half way between naps.

T pees a diaper full in the matter of a couple of hours now that he's exclusively on formula. I'm glad that I know he's very hydrated and it makes me sad to know he wasn't before.

But is this too much? The diaper is soaked full whenever I go to change him. I'm changing diapers like crazy!
