I've actually heard that 6-8 weeks is the peak f fussiness! So you're in the thick of it! I remember that period being brutally hard. Hang In there.

@Pumpkin Pie: ooh fingers crossed! Be grateful for the rest! Nights were always better for us which is why we never pulled the trigger on sleep training.

If it were just day time naps, I think I'd be able to deal with it a bit better. But, she is like that at night also!

She just had a 2 hour nap, so I'm really hoping this is a turning point. It might just be a fluke. Flingers crossed!

@Pumpkin Pie: I don't want to ruin your day but my LO took 30-45 minute naps her entire first year of life. I held or wore her for naps for weeks but it didn't add much time. We never sleep trained so I don't know if that would have helped. Naps got better at a year when we transitioned to one nap and she actually slept more total consolidated time.

Sleep is hard but it is a phase just like everything ekes. Good luck!

I'm actually worried that she may be getting too little awake time. She is has consistent awake time after her morning feed which is around 7-8. The afternoons are mixed with having awake time sometimes, and her falling asleep while feeding other times.

I second the carrier suggestion above. DD only napped for 45 minutes at a time for a LONG time (like until 5 months), and she was a frequent waking during the night in the beginning, too. Around 8 weeks we did turn a corner with night sleep and she'd go down for a few hours at a time. Hope you get some rest soon!

Normal. Can you try a wrap carrier? Better for newborns. Also, how much awake time is she getting? She may be overtired?

There's a growth spurt around now which could be the culprit. Bed sharing can be perfectly safe (especially if you're nursing). Research safe ore gives and you'll be fine (assuming you can sleep comfortably that way.)

I tried the rock n play, and she didnt like it, so I returned it and bought a swing. The swing only works sometimes if we put her down when she is already in a deeper sleep.

Its been like this right after she turned 1 month. I kept hearing that things would get better around 6-8 weeks, but looks like thats the peak of fussiness.

For those of you that sleep with your baby, do you just lay them next to you? No fear of rolling on them or anything?

I would mind less if I could baby wear, but I have the ergo, and she's cried every time I try to put her in there. Besides, that infant carrier isnt all that easy to use.

Has this been happening since LO was born? If it's a new thing, it could be the 6 week growth spurt. Just ride it out and then there should be some good sleep (relatively) around the corner (like within a week).

so rough. i believe it usually means that the baby is having a hard time linking their sleep cycles together into a more seamless sleep, and instead keeps waking up after every sleep cycle. sometimes i would let him fuss/cry (not full on wailing) for about 10 minutes to see if he would settle down. sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. i know a lot of people use and love the rock n play, is that worth a try?

I feel your pain. My first LO was like this, but he was only sleeping 20min at a time! The best things that worked for us were baby wearing, letting him sleep on me, and the swing. He wouldn't even sleep in the stroller! He was kind of a high needs baby, always awake and he nursed very often. His naps didn't lengthen until about 5 months. (His night sleep was always awful the first year).

Both of my boys were like this. They slept better with us rather then alone. I am happy to report that they sleep just fine in their own beds now. Although E (8 months) still sleeps with us often. His brother N (25 months) slept with us in bed until 6 months then we transitioned him to his crib, but most often he slept with us still. He stayed in our bed until I was too pregnant with E for it to be comfortable.

This too shall pass momma! Hang in there.

At that age, she was still sleeping on my chest. I also had a baby that wouldn't sleep for long when she was in the crib/bassinet, so early on I told my husband I would do whatever it took to get a decent amount of sleep, so she slept with us. She started sleeping in her crib a few weeks later, though she would come back in bed with us if she was sick or not having a good night.

Good luck!

My 6.5 week old will only sleep for 30-45 mins. at a time. I am so exhausted. When she falls asleep, I try to put her down in her bed, but then she'll only sleep for about 30 mins, 45 mins. max. Last night I let her sleep on me because I wanted her to get more rest in hopes that it would allow her to sleep longer when I put her down the next day. No luck. Any one else go through the same thing? Any tips, suggestions?

The 5 S's did not work for us.
