@lamariniere: I told my mom the same thing and she said, "you can just roll up the sleeves!" Hahah. Now I'm glad I got her one for this winter

I don't think Gap runs big, AND it seems that their cotton clothes shrink quite a lot. I bought DS the puffy coat in 4T for this winter and it is a little big on him now (he'll be 3 in 3 months!), but I think it will work the whole winter. 3T would have been risking having to get a new coat in the middle of winter. (DS is on the taller/heavier side though).

Your DD will probably be fine in 3T for the beginning of next winter, and if it's a similar coat to what I found for DS, it's a really nice quality, good looking coat.

I called my mom and turns out she bought them in 3T! DD is only 15 months old! I found her old, thin Gap jacket in the back of the closet and it still kind of fits, it's size 6-12m. Argh. I guess she can wear them next year ...

We just bought a 12-18 size puffer from Gap for our LO...she's tiny (3 percentile for height and weight), and it's too big on her, but not too bad considering! The 6-12 fit her better, but we figured we'd get the bigger one anyways.

I agree that Gap does NOT tend to run big...their clothes are pretty true to size and fitted so if you want one jacket for the future you should definitely size up

ETA: we were gifted a puffer jacket in size 18-24 months and it is not big at all on my 22 month old...she'll probably outgrow it before winter is over so I'm looking for another winter jacket

I have one that's 12-18 months and it looks too small on my average height, 16 month-old. I'd say exchange for a bigger size.

My mom called to say she picked up a few things for DD from Gap today. I've been stressing about finding DD a jacket recently and just bought her one and it looks a lot like the one my mom picked out!

I'm trying to figure out if I should tell my mom to exchange it for a larger size or just keep it. Do they fit big? One is a wool blend and the other is a puffer jacket. I can't find them online.
