It's close enough for a long weekend (3.5 hr non-stop flight), very easy to travel around cause it's US (same money, no worries about food/water contamination, easy to rent a car, etc), but tropical (El Yunque rainforest, Vieques, etc) and good healthcare available if there's an emergency. We were supposed to head out East for a friend's wedding. We were going to fly into Boston and make the drive to the wedding site. Unfortunately, the wedding was canceled a few weeks in advance so we just decided to keep our flights to Boston and stay there. Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to plan on what we were going to do and sort of winged it as neither of us had been there before. </p> <p>Boston is a great city but it's a walking city. Normally I'd be all over this but at 5 mos and with hot and humid temps, I was miserable. DH loved this vacay as it was right up his alley. We took a tour of Fenway, went to Sam Adams brewery and he loves all of the historical sites in Boston. We went to Mackinac Island, Michigan. Aside from the 8hr car ride (one way) it was very nice and relaxing time. We walked around the island, enjoyed the horse drawn carriages (no cars are allowed on the island), ate very well and relaxed.
