My sister used a service and loved it because they had everything with them and could choose what style worked best for each thing. She said it was totally worth the money because it didn't involve her making multiple trips to Home Depot or spending an entire weekend doing it.

We have done nothing, but LO is only 3.5 months.

We used a service, and it was great - he was in and out very quickly and latched all our cabinets, put our tangle of cords behind the entertainment system in a box, and tied all the heavy furniture in the living room and baby's room (bookshelves, dressers, tv) to the wall. I wanted to get someone to come in especially to strap everything to the walls - I had no interest in doing that myself. I think it was worth it for us.

DS is 15 months and we've slowly babyproofed in phases. We started with outlet covers, corner bumpers, fireplace cover and gates and then moved up to the cabinet closures and door knob handles once he started walking at 11 months.

I don't think it's worth it to service it out~ (But I also didn't do a lot of the babyproofing, dh did! :P)

So far we have just put outlet covers on. Moved stuff of lower shelves. Put foam around the coffee table edges. That's it. She doesn't try and get in the kitchen cabinets....yet.

How much babyproofing have you done? We have a 2 yo and a baby on the way in May and are moving into our new house next week.

I was thinking banister guards (the thick plastic sheets that tie to the banister) to prevent them from throwing things onto our new hardwood from upstairs. Are they effective?

Maybe latches in the kitchen for the pantry, wine closet and certain cabinets? However, we have a lot of lower cabinets and drawers in our kitchen and it would take a contortionist to get in there and drill the latches.

Has anyone used a professional baby proofing service? Would you recommend it?
