It will likely take a few tries and it may require that you leave the room or house.

It could take a few tries. We tried a few bottles in the process and she took to the mOmma bottles and Playtex Ventaire/Drop-ins.

We had a similar issue - LO took the bottle OK when we introduced it around 5 weeks, then after a couple weeks would just cry and refuse to take more than half an ounce or so.

I thought the issue was flow because I have a fast letdown, so I ordered some medium flow nipples for the bottles we had. While waiting for the new nipples to arrive in the mail, though, DH started experimenting with temperature and figured out that LO would happily take the bottle if the milk was around room temperature (as opposed to above room temp). So that is thankfully working for now, although I wonder if we should switch to the medium flow nipples anyway.

Could you try sandwich-ing the bottle in between the boob, i.e., let your LO start out nursing on boob, then switch to bottle after couple of minutes, and then let her finish on boob (for comfort nursing)?

I would keep trying, or have DH or someone else try. LO took a bottle like a champ when we first tried and then we took a good 6-8 week break and she had a sitter, so she needed a bottle. She refused the bottle so now we are back to trying to get her to take one again. Good luck!

Keep trying! It took LO so long to accept a bottle. We also tried many different kinds of bottles, although she eventually settled on the free Medela bottles I got free with my pump. Of course!

I'm EBFing DD and she's almost 6 weeks old. I was ready to introduce a bottle of my milk to get her used to it for when I go back to work in April. We started in the evening after I had breast fed her a little so she wasn't super hungry but not full. We had DH try. She refused and was inconsolable until I finally breast fed her again.

I know we need to try again but I'm wondering if this is normal for it to take a couple tries? At what point do we try another bottle (although right now I don't think it's a bottle preference but an all out refusal!)
