We've been going to the pool since 6 months (14 months now) and she's never had an issue with her ears. She loves the pool! Have fun!

We've been doing swim lessons since 6 months and L loves it, he's never seemed to have had any sort of pain or discomfort. Well, other than when he goes from the warm pool to the cold locker room to be stripped down, that elicits screams every time! But no ear problems, and he's been dunked (he usually actually thinks the dunking is funny.)

@heartonastring: Our instructor says the same thing - both ears completely in, or both completely out of the water.

We started swim lessons with dd at 8.5 months. They do say that you when baby's floating on his/her back he/she should either have both ears in the water or neither ear.

But we do back floating, front floating, side floating, dunking etc., and she's never had any ear issues. I do dry her ears out after swimming, just as I do after she takes a bath.

I take the LO I nanny to baby swim classes (she just turned 1yr) and she loooooves it. They do lots of floating, jumping into the water and head dunking and that sort of thing, and water in her ears has never appeared to bother her (no ear tugging or crying or anything that would indicate discomfort). She has a blast!

i'm thinking of enrolling my 15 month old in a baby/toddler & me swim class...

what happens when he gets water in his ears? will he be in pain? i only ask because i know when i get water in my ears, it's just simply annoying but i don't know what it's like for a toddler..
