@Mrs. Jacks: It's worth mentioning that I'm an alarmist and a hypochondriac :) Soooo what looks to me like a very noticeable red spot could very well be a whole bunch of nothing. Fingers crossed!

@plaidpants: It's hard to know without seeing it and examining her, but hopefully it's a whole bunch of nothing!

@Mrs. Jacks: Thanks! I will definitely keep an eye on it. We're about to get two feet of snow here, so I'll be trapped in the house with nothing to do but keep my eye on it! I want my husband to take a look at it because he's had more experience with them. Ugh! Poor kid. Right now it just looks like a spot, not a blister or anything. My husband only gets mild ones (spots, no open sores) so hopefully if she does get them, they'll be the same. I have no idea if that's how it works!

@plaidpants: Aww, sweetie, I'm sorry! I hope it's nothing, but it could be a primary HSV outbreak (cold sores). Usually the primary outbreak has multiple lesions and can be quite painful... If it becomes that way, you'll probably want to see your pediatrician.

I hope it's nothing, but watch closely!

Can babies get cold sores? My husband gets them and just woke up with one this morning. I have never gotten one, but I don't know if I'm just asymptomatic. We do try to be super careful when he thinks he's getting one. Anyway, my LO and I have both had a cold for a couple days and today I noticed she has a red spot on her bottom lip. Could it be a cold sore? Do babies get them? Is it dangerous?? She's 13 months so it's pretty much impossible to keep her hands out of her mouth, away from her eyes, etc. I'm freaking out a little!
