I wanted to baby wear & used the Moby a little bit when DD was first born but hated trying to mess with putting it on! To be fair, after doing it a few times, it is actually pretty easy, but with a newborn I just couldn't get into it! At around 4 months I started using our Ergo a LOT & I just love it! I use it in the late afternoons/early evenings just before I put her down for the night...it's usually before DH is home & I am trying to clean up & make dinner. It did take awhile for my daughter to warm up to being in it, but now she loves it & it soothes her

@Rosie Girl: Totally agree! I plan on using my k'tan only while we're out and only b/c I REFUSE to carry around an infant car seat again... sheesh that was a pain. And seriously when we started ttc was the ONLY thing I dreaded having to do again. lol

I only used my front pack with DS a couple times. It was a pain because of all the clips and stuff. I hated my wrap. He looked uncomfortable and I felt like he was going to fall out. I also didn't want to carry him around the house all the time because when I worked at a daycare, one mom did this, and we could never set her son down without him screaming. I didn't want that to be my child!

We use the Ergo constantly. When our daughter was little, we wore her around the house all the time. She became accustomed to being worn for her naps. We still wear her for every nap, hiking, and navigating tight places (like the farmer's market)!

We have a Bjorn that we have mostly used when travelling. LO really likes it now that they are facing outwards and can see everything. I keep meaning to do more babywearing but I never quite manage it. I also have a sling ( can't remember the brand ) that I hope to use more now that LO is a little older and I can kind of carry him on my hip in the sling.

I'm planning on getting the baby k'tan. It's not a lot of fabric lot the moby and I've heard that it's a great carrier. Good for if you want to breastfeed as well.

I tried it on the other day and liked the way it felt... now just to find a baby to try it with. lol

The owner of a boutique here had the k'tan until baby was older and then moved to the ergo... she didn't like the ergo for baby when baby was little.

I wore LO in the Moby around the house when he was small. I never would have worn him in that outside, though -- too much to wrap/unwrap!

Now we use a Bjorn Comfort carrier to wear him when we're out and about. He loves to face out and watch what's going on. Sometimes I stick him in it around the house when he's fussy and do some light housework, but you are limited in what you can do ... especially with a 19-pounder strapped to you!

If I had the moby when DS was newborn, I would have worn him all the time. As it was, he slept alright and I didn't mind chilling in the recliner watching netflix or sleeping while he slept on me. That made up a good chunk of my maternity leave and it was wonderful.

Now I have a Boba, and use it mainly when we are out and about, or when DS is fussy due to being sick or teething and won't sleep. He's 8 months and 22-23 pounds, so holding him for a long time gets my arms burning.

We don't have a LO yet, but I just wanted to jump in here to say that DH constantly talks about how much he's going to carry our baby around in a baby carrier. He wants them facing out so they can see everything, and just the other day he mentioned that he's going to have to start eating a bunch of jelly so when it plops onto baby's head and can lick it off. lol *shaking my head* silly DH...

I don't wear her in the house though. For dishes and stuff, if Papa Bear doesn't have her, she's in a swing or bouncy seat.

I thought I would do a lot more babywearing than I actually did. I think that's mainly because I didn't really like the Moby (I probably just didn't put in enough time fiddling/practicing with it to get comfortable with it), and I hated our "hotsling," and while I liked the Baby Bjorn, we didn't inherit it from a friend till DS was a couple months old. So I didn't have any carrier that I liked for that early period.
Now we use the Ergo a lot (DS is 8 months). DH will wear DS while he does chores (vacuuming, raking leaves, etc.), we use it a lot at restaurants (it seems to often calm DS down and/or put him to sleep), and I use it all the time when I go shopping (I can't wrangle a stroller and a shopping cart, so I love being hands-free with the Ergo). And when we're out and about (on a hike, at the farmer's market, at a museum, running errands...) we probably favor the Ergo more than a stroller too.

I use the ergo mostly out of the house, it was a god send on trips. I also find it useful if I'm prepping dinner and my son wants to snuggle, I just put him on my back and he's happy as can be.

Sometimes I wear her around the house. I think I will be using them more as she gets heavier too, sometimes she just needs a bit of momma or papa closeness. In the Moby (well my version of the moby) I face her outwards and she loves looking at everything and kicking while still having her momma close.

I will definitely be investing in both carriers. I'll get the moby first... and not buy the ergo if I don't find that I use it a lot. A gf of mine used both all the time. She and her husband LOVED "wearing" their lil girl and she did so often around the house and outside the home as well.

I don't use them around the house either. You can't exactly bend over with the kiddo in an Ergo. I usually put him in his bouncy chair when I do chores so he can see what I'm up to.

Does anyone here use their baby carriers on a regular basis?

I have an Ergo and a Moby wrap, and I really like both. I only wear my daughter when we're out for a walk. I feel like I bought these really expensive carriers and I don't really use them very much.

So do you wear your baby around the house while doing chores? Or just when you're out and about?
