You won't know until you try. I just found it to be kind of awkward to carry her in our SSCs before when she was really small. Though, our Beco is set up like the Boba, and we got it once she had outgrown the insert. It could have been awesome. </p> <p>I think that when it gets unbearable, he will be at an age that it won't matter so much. He'll be more alert and interested in what's going on around him, so it will be much easier to tell if he's overheating. If you will be outside for hours, it might be a bit much. If not, I think you'll be fine. I'm hoping that I'll be able to deal with a k'tan for the first few months until he/she is big enough for an ergo or beco gemini, by which time it won't be so hot here either. The carrier can be adapted for newborns without an insert... so I really was hoping to be able to wear him in that around 6 weeks or so. Once he's older you won't worry so much :). Maybe you could find a fairly cheap linen ring sling at a local consignment store? Or maybe on the Babywearer forums. If you really love baby wearing, it won't be a bad investment. It was a little sweaty sometimes, but not unbearable. Honestly, because it was so hot and sticky, I just didn't wear my newborn a ton outside. Short walks and trips to the store were about it.</p> <p>ETA: We don't have a Boba, but we have a black Beco Butterfly II which has an extra interior panel.
