I've seen babies who fuss at first if they are not used to it. I say keep trying! And also check out some videos and Babywearing International to make sure you are wearing them correctly so you are both comfortable. Good luck :)

I have the K'tan and ergo. The K'tan it's hard to get her into the right position. But if she can find a comfy spot, she'll sleep for up to two hours in there. The infant insert for the ergo I never really used - it just felt too awkward. Now that she is three months I'm using it more without the infant insert and I like it, but she can't rest her head so she doesn't nap in it.

@BlueWolverine: I always found the same thing with both Owen and Eloise. They would fuss and protest when I first put them in the carrier, but would totally settle in and be asleep after a few minutes.

Thanks, everyone! I put her in the sling today when she was a bit sleepy and she hung out for a while before starting to fuss. I'll try again later. Love all of the suggestions!

I know a lot of people say that they don't like the ergo until their kids are older, but my kids did fantastic in it with the infant insert from a few weeks old. The only caveat is that we put them in the insert as normal and then kind of turned the insert sideways to wear it. They didn't like the spread knees action when they were teeny tiny. Around 10 weeks we could use the insert as normal.

My LO only tolerates being carried inside for a bit - we have to be outside! He wants to be able to see better I think. But I'd introduce in small increments regularly .)

I think it just takes a bit of time for babies to get used to being in the carrier. I remember the first couple of times I tried, my LO would fuss and fuss, but I just kept him in there and walked around the house or danced to music. Eventually he'd fall asleep and I could sit down!

Being outside also really helped. He never fussed if he was in the carrier and we were outside.

When he was really little we used the moby, then started using the Pognae at 3 months.

ditto to waht @highwire @mrskc said about the baby being sleepy.

We used the moby from the beginning and really loved it but I think with the sling you have some options on how to carry.

I liked the k'tan when he was a newborn and still like it for him at 4 months. It is tight, but meant to stretch. I agree with Highwire and make sure it's when your baby is sleepy. Sometimes my LO would fuss for a bit, but then settle down and eventually fall asleep.

Try looking up videos on YouTube or check out Paxbaby.com (she has a YouTube channel) for tips/tricks on getting your LO in and settled.

My LO LOVED to be worn! He actually still does at 22 months :) I really liked my Sleep Wrap (same as a Moby) for that age. You can tuck their head under the strap to hold it in place and tilted away from your body while they sleep. I also think it helps them feel more secure, womb like. You can also adjust the tightness depending in how you wrap it.

We later moved to the Ergo which I also love and love back carries. I've used a ring sling and a woven wrap and I also ordered a wrap conversion mei tai but it's taken forever to get made (WAHM made). The ring sling is super nice for east ups/downs and nursing.

When are you putting her in the carrier? Trying to time it so the baby is due for a nap is the best way to get going with babywearing, IMO. Putting them in while they are hungry or wide awake didn't work at all for me in the beginning.

We use the Moby with lots of success. The k'tan wasn't supportive enough at the beginning when she was really floppy, but now that she has more head control we use the k'tan more frequently.

I would really like to wear Baby A. She is almost six weeks old and I am ready to have some hands free!

I have pouch sling, a Bjorn, a K'Tan and an Ergo. I've tried the pouch sling and she fussed, the K'Tan and she fussed, and the Bjorn. She fell asleep in the Bjorn, but I didn't like how her head was jutting forward when she slept. Waiting on the infant insert for the Ergo.

Any advice? The K'Tan seems really tight, her head seems at a funny angle in the pouch sling. Do babies generally fuss and then settle in? I really want her to like one of these....
