@lilyofthewest: Are you using a legs out position? I use a modified version of the hug position. The first couple times I tried it I had my husband around to make sure that there were extra hands to help out

Definitely try legs out. And the ring sling is the only thing that tricks my baby into thinking I am holding him!

I use the solly wrap. My LO always tries to stand up in it and screams when i first put her in but I go outside and walk a little and she calms down and snuggles in. Just today (8w) we did the legs out carry and it was less of a struggle. I think she liked it better. Also the Beco gemini has legs out from the beginning I think.

I like using a ring sling when LO was so small. I never tried a Moby style one with her, but am planning to with the LO on the way.

@mrswin: He's skillful enough at the escape attempts that it is unnerving to try to wait it out. Maybe i should try it again while sitting in the middle of the bed...

I wasn't comfortable using the k'tan until we tried the hug position at 2 months. Now I really enjoy babywearing him in the k'tan and he takes awesome naps in it!

@lilyofthewest: How long do you put him in the Ktan for? My DD always protests for the first five minutes or so but if I go out on the patio or just walk/bounce her a bit she will eventually settle and remember how much she likes it  and fall asleep. She is 8 weeks and is a swaddle buster as well

I have a 6 week old. I'd like to figure out a way to wear him so I'm able to do more stuff during the (frequent and lengthy) times when he demands being held and talked to to stave off screaming. I've tried a few things with no luck yet, and I'm hoping y'all can steer me in the direction of what to try next.

Pip thinks that stretchy wraps (tried Moby and K'tan) are just variations on the "bust out of the swaddle" game. The Ergo (with newborn insert) is fine for a few minutes, and then he tries to stand up in it. This either ends with him getting a foot twisted and yowling, or me/Sweetie giving up due to the toenails digging in to our guts. I think the Ergo might work better once he's big enough not to need the insert and his legs are out - but until then...

So, what to try now?
