Congratulations, and good luck! In our child birth class, our educator told us to try counter-pressure with a tennis ball. It already felt good practicing it, and I wasn't even in back labor.

Baby yet?

I had back labor and the only thing that helped me was sitting on a bouncy ball while my hubby applied pressure from behind with his fists.

I had back labor and the only thing that got me through it was standing completely still when the contractions hit. My nurse kept suggesting swaying but that made it worse. I had an epidural and even after that, the pressure from behind was still so miserable, I was just glad I no longer had the pain.

Good luck!! I hope you have that baby soon!!

ooo back labor suuucks :( but like @Arden said "No one has EVER been in labor forever"

for me, nothing was comfortable but doing squats, sit/stand sit/stand, made it bearable. I didn't want anyone to touch me, haha

wishing you a beautiful birth! congrats, you're almost there!! <3

Nothing really helped for me. I did sit in the tub for awhile before going to the hospital and that offered some relief. I resorted to screaming threw contractions. Probably not super productive but it helped me get threw them.

I did lots of hands & knees to turn & keep baby anterior facing (being on your back promotes posterity) AND my MW used a rebozo which really got her into optimal position. Those both helped keep back labor away.

Hope your well on your way to meeting your lo at this point!

In the labor class my hospital had recommended counter pressure to try to turn the baby. Have your husband push on where it hurts or even use a rolling pin to help apply pressure. The nurse said this wouldn't hurt the baby but might annoy them enough that they move. Good luck!

Honestly, I found the most relief by bending over a counter or curling over myself.

I'm sorry about the back labor...I know how rough it is but CONGRATULATIONS and good luck!

What relieved it for me was being on the ground with my butt up in the air and chest on the ground. My doula and DH would apply heat as well. Good luck! Back labor sucks.

@Mrs. Tricycle: Well that explains being cold, hospitals are always freezing. If you can get a warm pack and tie it on to your lower pack with an ace bandage or stick it under the monitor band, that might bring a little relief.
Definitely experiment with back pressure though, you'll find the spot, and you won't want them to stop!

Doula said to take a bath, and midwife said to get on hands and knees. Tried hands and knees in tub, and I just got cold and more miserable. Battling some serious nausea so my "breaks" aren't a relief.

Will try hip squeeze - DH up in a few minutes.

Has your water broken yet? If it hasn't, moving around a lot (swaying hips, lunges, squatting, walking, figure eights with your hips) can help baby move into a better position.

Also, if you have a doula educated in using a rebozo (or a sheet in place of one), she may be able to turn him using a rebozo technique.

Double hip squeeze! Do you have a doula? If not your partner or anyone else can do it - just have them pull your hips together at whatever point feels good. Also having them apply counterpressure (fists or palms pressing into the lower back) can really help.
