I was doing just fine yesterday and then BAM! I now have a massive (its really not massive just feels like it) pinched nerve in my left leg! Its going all the way down in to the heel of my foot & my little toe. This crap! I really can't take another day off work this week, my supervisor would be so pissed. It's really hard to walk! UGH!

I started having back pains at 11 weeks--they went away eventually but it was no fun.

@Sugar.Biscuit: I honestly can't remember but think it was pretty early on...like 10ish weeks. Since then I have to be on my side, which leaves options kinda limited.

@navy_mommy: I'll be trying out that pelvic tilt, thanks for the link!

I had tons of back pain but I also have chronic issues. Pillow between my knees helped. Still helps. I am still struggling with this. :( Sorry you are in pain. It really stinks.

@Navy_Mommy: Thank you! I'm sorry your in pain but I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has struggled this early! I feel like such a wussy. DH struggles everyday with severe chronic pain & here he is taking care of me. I meet with my trainer today so hopefully she will have some good ideas & stretches for me.

It's gonna hurt, lol. I have two herniated discs in my back as well. My last pregnancy there were days I couldn't walk. My husband was deployed and I remember sitting at the bottom of the stairs sobbing just wanting to go to bed but I couldn't get up the stairs!

Get a full body sleep pillow, that will help. I just pulled mine out again at 14 weeks. And do pelvic tilts EVERY DAY as well as some stretching. That helped a lot, and I contribute all those tilts to the fact I only had to push for 25 minutes, lol.

A normal belly support band will absolutely put MORE strain on your lower back so don't get one! Ask your Ob to prescribe a "prenatal cradle. " They're a hassle but will be especially important with twins (but you won't need that till your belly gets bigger).

Ugh, I feel your pain! I'm 22 weeks w/twins & have had horrible back pain for a couple months now. It's gotten to the point that I wake up about every 1.5hrs at night w/pain so bad I have to get up/stretch & walk around a bit before I can lay down again. My dr didn't seem concerned about it either telling me to take Tylenol & use a heating pad. I've found that using pillows in different places/positions sometimes helps a smidge.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I'm 13+4 today.

The doctors office doesn't seem concerned. They think I'm just growing and stretching out. If it gets worse or I have s&s of an infection I'm suppose to go in. Otherwise Tylenol & heat for now. I really want a massage. I kept asking DH for one last night but he sucks at it. Either its to soft or to hard lol.

I had terrible lower back pain while pregnant. Seeing the chiropractor twice a week did wonders for me. I also bought this and did the exercises for lower back pain. It offered temporary relief, but some relief was better than none.

I agree with PP that calling your OB for reassurance is a good idea. Nothing like a peace of mind!

@Sugar.Biscuit: how far along are you?

The sun salutations are *the* only thing that stretch my lower back. I feel like a new person! I go from walking crooked to standing straight.

I know nothing about yoga & pregnancy, though, so I'd speak to your OB before starting a new exercise routine.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: been stretching it out as much as I can & I was working with a trainer up until 2 weeks ago when he finally chickened out because of the twins. I know core strength is important for me so I've trying to work on that. Hopefully this is nothing & I can bounce back quickly. Now to find a sub that actually wants to work...

@Sugar.Biscuit: for peace of mind, I'd still call the OB... It's likely an old injury resurfacing, and your OB can tell you what pain meds you can or cannot take, or whether its best to heat or ice your back.

I've thrown my lower back out a few times since having Chloe, and its no walk in the park! I know I have weak muscles, and I recently discovered that some yoga poses really help stretching the muscles and helping regain strength. Is that something you could try?

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I have two herniated disc in my lower lumbar region. I forget which numbers L3-L4? L4-5 for sure or L5-S1? It doesn't take much to tweak it & yesterday I was having problems moving/bending. It felt like it was catching on those discs as it has in the past so I wasn't to concerned.

I had some lower back pain earlier in my pregnancy like week 5-8 ish but that came and went after a day. Today it's still carrying on & I don't know if I'll make it through work today.

I have low back/hip pain. I was in a bad wreck last year (rear-ended by a semi) so my hips and pelvis get out of alignment very easily. It is a good idea to talk to your OB about it, they may be able to suggest treatment options for you and give you peace of mind.

I think calling your OB is a good idea, just for reassurance.

Did you have weak back muscles to begin with?

I had/have a weak lower back. I injured it somehow (I honestly don't remember how) before pregnancy, and it weakened quickly during my first trimester. I remember throwing my back out very easily during my first trimester, and being in bed for a few days while it healed!

Whats normal & whats not? My lower back has hurt since I woke up yesterday. It started on the right side and spread to both sides. I may or may not have mild period like cramps as well. I do have a bad back so occasional back pain is normal for me but back pain during pregnancy is a whole new ball game. I didn't feel any growth for almost two weeks & the babies were a week ahead at there U/S last week. So maybe I'm going through a massive growth spurt? I'm calling my OB this morning anyways for reassurance just wanted to hear what the Bees had to say.
