@bees_knees: they did do a culture and antibiotic sensitivity on the first. It showed sensitivity to the meds he prescribed. They are doing another one this time too.

@2littlepumpkins: that's what I was on last time and this time too. Sex was a factor (I think) for the first uti but not this time. I'm just hoping this round of antibiotics works, I feel completely wiped out.

@MrsTal: Make sure they confirmed the sensitivity to that drug. Macrobid would be my choice because it doesn't wipe out as much intestinal/good bacteria and cause those side effects or worse. I was on abx to prevent a different infection my entire last pregnancy and it kind of sucked, but not as bad as the infection itself. But I would try my best to avoid that. It's summer so I get them the most when dehydrated. Also it could be worthwhile just to do macrobid before sex, I've done that as well. Not sure if that's a factor with you getting them. They suck though, hope you are better very soon!!

I would confirm that they did a urine culture and antibiotic sensitivity on your first urine specimen. And if they didn't, I would def request one now to make sure the antiobiotic you're on is actually effective against whatever is causing the infection.

UTIs suck. Hang in there!

July 2 I had what I thought was the start of a UTI. The next day it was worse so I went into the doctor and they confirmed it was a UTI and put me on antibiotics. I started feeling better after a couple days and finished the antibiotics on the 10th. Then today I woke up in horrible pain and had all the symptoms again. I scheduled an appointment and after that I went to the bathroom and was passing a lot of blood. Went in and explained the symptoms, doctor doesn't blink and eye and just says to do the antibiotics again. I'm a little concerned because I just finished the meds Monday and now it either came back or never went away. He also said that if I get another one after this I have to be on antibiotics the rest of pregnancy. Has anyone had experiences with this?
