@PurplePeony: Mine has been the same. Break was harder without structure, and now that school has been back in session this week (from Tuesday on) she's been a lot less wild in the evenings.
We planned lots of playdates, and trips to parks and things, but it was still different from the routine of school which we are all happy to get back to!

The last few days of break were hard, but my DD is actually doing much better now that she’s to school. She does well with routine and needs a lot of peer interaction, which both went out the window during break. We need to be better about setting up play dates in the future, I think. She’s super tired after school but it makes bedtime quick.

This is going to pretty unhelpful to most people but I’ll share just in case someone else is in a similar situation...

We accidentally discovered this summer that traveling east and then returning right before school starts is the besssst for transitioning back into school! We did it again at Christmas and were completely unregulated all Christmas break. Just wild children. But when we get back the 3 hour time difference just puts them right in the sweet spot for back-to-school. All week we’ve been putting them down an hour earlier then usual and we’ve had our best behavior of the year! We are planning our summer east coast trip to end just a couple days before school starts next August because it’s been so great.

@JennyPenny: I don't even have anything planned currently for winter (Feb) and spring break (Apr)! I'd be on maternity leave this whole span so I just assumed I'll make something work haha. Thank goodness DD2 would still be in daycare. What are we gonna do when 3 kids are all in public school!

My son is struggling with the transition too. He's in K this year and we were debating switching to a year round school next year. But honestly, having to do this multiple times a year sounds awful...

Mine are nuts too! I almost posted this week about feeling like DS is not ready for Kindergarten this fall. But I decided to give it a few weeks because maybe I'm just seeing back from break craziness (fingers crossed). You've gone to the same preschool for 2 years - what's with crying hysterically at drop off?

DD has been keeping busy causing havoc as well. On her first day back her teacher emailed me saying she told the class Donald Trump was bombing Americans. Ugh, ok addressed that. The next night she came home and announced proudly that she traded two tickets from last year's fall festival to a classmate for $10. So I sent the money back with her and emailed her teacher the heads up. Yesterday the teacher says she only delivered $5 and DD could not account for the other $5. DD's afterschool program heard DD bragging to other kids that she tricked the girl she traded with and that she's hiding the money. WTH. I can't wait to see what tonight brings. I feel so sorry the teacher is wasting her time on this.

I was JUST wondering if being on break with the holidays really made them that nuts? We weren't even off for that long! DD1 was off 12/23 through 1/1, DD2 was in daycare even more than that. We went on a 2 night road trip. They more or less kept to bedtime. Maybe a little too many treats. But they've been monsters going to bed lately and I have no idea why!

My kids have been completely insane since school has started again. I assume that it is largely related to lack of sleep, but my goodness, I am losing my mind. Between the two of them, there were five complete meltdowns yesterday. :crying: I just want to get back to normal! Commiserate with me!
