ahhhh you guys were right! I laid her on her stomach on her activity gym and had a toy about her head and next thing you know, she's now rolling front to back! That was so fast!

@mrsmccarthy, she's always trying to sit up and we're always joking that she's doing ab crunches and working on her flab, cuz that's EXACTLY what it looks like. She just lays on her back and tries to do a sit up, but just grunts like mad lol. Oh boy.

Our son started going back-to-tummy and never really took to doing tummy to back. He figured it out and was physically able to do it after a few weeks, but he didn't do it very often & would get fussy on his stomach. Once he was older and started wanting to move from one place to another, he began rolling more as a means of getting around.

My son did back to tummy rolling first too. When he finally rolled tymmy to back it was later and he only did it a few times. I read at the time that it means they are exceptionally strong because its harder to roll that way. In our case it seems to follow the trend because Tor crawled at 6 months, stood up unassisted at 7 months, cruising by 8 and was walking by 9 months! He is now 10 months and walking around everywhere. You may just have a baby with a very strong core on your hands.

Keep doing tummy time. And when she's on her tummy you can manually help roll her to her back. Start with a leg and kind of plant her foot on the ground. Then start to roll her hips back, them the rest of her will follow.

I would just keep working on tummy time...she's still early for hitting that milestone so I would just give her more time! I"ve heard that if you put them on their tummies and wave something up over their heads, it encourages they to look up and to the side and then sometimes they roll!

So E is rolling back to tummy all the time now...I don't think it's a fluke anymore! But she hasn't rolled front to back and it makes her SO MAD when she gets stuck on her stomach.

How can I encourage her to roll the other way? More tummy time? She's 3.5 months old...
