Gah!!...And before I think I was leaning more toward going back at 11 wks. Why do I agonize over these little decisions?!? Guess I'll flip a coin.

Not knowing your sick day and vacation day numbers I would go back a week early. LO2 is going to get sick in daycare. Which means LO1 will then get sick. A month ago DD2 got HFM and it wiped 3 of my PTO days. Then after she got better DD1 got sick and was out for 3 days. Thankfully family stepped in for those 3. Otherwise it would be wiped out a good chunk of my days and we're not even halfway through the years. Not to mention wanting to take time around holidays, etc.

Oh wait - just saw that you have 20 to use. So it's 20 but not prorated? So even with the 5 days you're using you will still have 11 days to get you till end of the year?
I will stay home the extra week then! :)

@T.H.O.U.: I generally use a combination of vacation, sick, and work from home when I need to be home with my oldest.

I do already have five days of vacation already allocated for a trip in August and will be losing my job likely at the end of year. (I expect to get my six month notice of my end date soon.) Any extra days would then be paid out with my severance assuming I'm still there at the time.

I would take the extra leave.

Also, I would schedule my first day back to be a Wednesday or Thursday - its so much easier to go back to work when you only have to get through a couple of days before the weekend.

How do you handle sick days? Is that in addition to the 20 vacation days you get?

If sick days are separate, I would go ahead and take the extra 4 days of leave.

I would take the full leave. You'll still have 16 days left. I'd rather get all the baby cuddles I could.

My LO is just about 10 weeks old and I (unfortunately :bummed: ) now need to decide exactly what day I will return to work. My FMLA doesn't expire until June 7th, but I am debating if I should go back a week early. My vacation resets on June 1st and for anything beyond that, they will start using vacation days again. (This didn't happen with my first LOA, which also took place over a new vacation year.)

So as much as I hate to end my leave early, it might be nice to save those vacation days (4 days out of my 20 for the year) to use later for some "me" days and trying to stay caught up on things at home. We don't have a lot of help nearby so time to myself doesn't happen much! Plus, it's very likely I will be needing some for job interviews in the next several months too.

But on the other hand, this will be my last baby so I'm trying to soak in all the time I have left home with her and hate to put her in daycare any sooner than I need to.

Kind of a silly thing to ask for advice on, but for some reason I am really struggling with this decision!!
