I just wanted to second @Mrs. Carrot: Don't hesitate to call in during the day to check on her, even though it's a center. The director or staff should be more than happy to drop in and ask her teacher how she's doing. Good luck!

lots of hugs to both of you. it's okay if the transition isn't super-smooth, that's how a lot of transitions are and doesn't mean you are doing anything wrong, that the center isn't a good place, that your child isn't well-adjusted, etc. give yourself and your LO lots of leeway and flexibility as you both adjust to this new phase. i hope that she enjoys the center!

Give it time, it will all be OK. She might adapt right away, and there might be a few rough weeks where she doesn't nap well or eat less and has a little more separation anxiety. Talk to her teachers about things that have been normal for her recently, make sure to send a favorite toy or blanket with her for nap time, and there's nothing wrong with checking in with the teachers or director throughout the first few days to see how it goes. My daughter transitioned to a center daycare right after her second birthday and I was a nervous wreck but she handled it beautifully. Good luck to you both!

I left my stressful job 5 months ago when my daughter was 20 months old. She had been in a in-home daycare since she was 3 months old and I took her out and we have spent the past 5 months together. It has been an amazing time. Unfortunately, due to financial reasons, I have to return to work next week and my daughter is going to have to go back to daycare.
Our old daycare provider can no longer take her, so we are putting her in a center this time. I am super nervous since she has never been in an environment like this and she is very, very clingy right now.
Does anyone have any words of wisdom for first day(for her AND me? haha)?
