I have used it with a borrowed pump, I think it was a Medela. Here are a couple pictures of the connection to the pump. Hope that helps.

@Mrs. Toad: I didn't realize the freemie is only electric!!! How did I not realize that? Daaaaang. I really wish they would make some kind of converter that would hook the freemie cups to the Freestyle pump.

I rented an Ameda for the first month, it was ok, then purchased a Hygeia that I love. This was before the free pumps. Before my second was born I qualified for the free pump and only had the option of one of the Medelas. I kept it as a just in case backup, then ended up donating it at the 9 month point to our lactation consultant since it was brand new in a sealed box since I never needed it.

I have a freemie and I don't have any problems with it. However, it only works with electric power, so if you are pumping on the go, it won't help.

I was in your same situation, except w a medela dbl electric (like pisa), freestyle both in great condition. I decided to get the Ameda PY to try a closed pump system this time! I bought replacement parts for my other two pumps!

I would get another Freestyle bc you already have the parts for those and if you end up keeping it boxed up, I think it'd be an easy sell.

I would get the Spectra. Some EP'ers have said their output has decreased with Freemies and I would worry that I would dump milk everywhere if I bent over using them. :crying: You can hack the Spectra to take Medela parts and get a car inverter if you use it traveling a lot!

I'd get one that is the same as one of the ones you already have so you can use the same parts - I would hate to have 3 different types of parts to wash!

I also hear a lot of good things about the Spectra, and I think one of them has a battery pack. But I would definitely get something with a battery pack if you will be pumping in the car. I had an Ameda and it was okay, but it didn't even last the entire 10 months I pumped and I relied on my back-up pump (an older, better Ameda) to get me through.

I'd get the freemie since you already have a Freestyle for work and home.

I hear so many good things about the Spectra, and since it's just a back up, you probably don't care that it doesn't have battery pack option?

@sunny: I definitely think, no matter what, I will get rid of the PISA. No need to keep it around with all it's own little parts.

I don't know if I'll EP again--I hope not!! I really want BFing to work out this time---but I'm really anxious since we had so many problems last time. I guess I want to plan for the worst scenario (EPing) just in case.

I will definitely be going back to work, so will have to pump at work in any case.

Do you think you'll EP again? If not, do you anticipate needing an extra backup? Because I'd probably get another Freestyle and then sell it down the line if you don't end up using it. Or get the Freestyle and use it as my backup and then get rid of the PISA you hate.

I guess I would do the fremie or keep one in the box to sell. Cause that's a lot of pumps! I have an ameda and I like it fine but they have medela symphony at my work and I barely ever pump at home now! I definitely wouldn't want anymore pumps but I could see the appeal if they didn't have pumps at my work.

So I get a free breast pump again this pregnancy and really need to order it ASAP since I'm 36 weeks. I checked my insurance and they've improved even more since my last pregnancy--now I can get ANY pump that isn't hospital grade.

Background info: Last pregnancy, I got a Medela PISA through insurance and used it a month or so, then got a brand new Freestyle from a mommy friend who never used it but got it at her shower (she ended up ffing). As soon as I tried the Freestyle, I loved it way more and never went back to the PISA. I EPd and when my supply started decreasing around 8 months, I panicked and thought it was the Freestyle, and I called customer service and they sent me a NEW ONE. (spoiler alert--it wasn't the pump, it was my body. But oh well, new pump).

So now I have quite a collection: a PISA that I hate, an older Freestyle and a newer Freestyle (they are the same, both work).

And now I get a free one again. I'm leaning towards the Freemie just to try it. But then I think I should get a Freestyle, keep it in the box, and if I never use it, sell it somewhere down the line. But then I could have 1 at work, 1 at home, and a backup. But maybe that's excessive.

WWYD? I can get any pump, so I briefly looked at the spectra and ameda, but those just don't appeal to me. I did pump many times in my car, on airplanes, etc which is why the Freemie appeals to me.
