I’ve been using a backpack with a carrier this time around and really like it. I actually can’t figure out how to comfortably wear a shoulder strap diaper bag with a carrier.

This isn’t actually a diaper bag, but I LOVE it and it works super well as a diaper bag because it does have compartments. And it’s not too big at all. Super simple and chic and timeless too. Lightweight.
Has these side compartment you can reach pretty easily while wearing it for wallet, phone, keys or even baby necessities like a paci.

@LaughLines: I love the backpack option, I found my kate spade stevie too clunky while trying to do anything involving moving/walking. I sometimes also put a small crossbody inside the backpack to wear if I need quick access to the keys, wallet, phone etc... since it’s awkward to reach around for those things once a baby is strapped to your front. And I imagine with an extra car seat you want everything at your fingertips!

@LaughLines: I loved wearing the baby and carrying a backpack as a diaper bag (I just used an actual backpack). I did have a small crossbody purse that I keep my keys money and phone in, or you can use your pockets, depending on what you are doing.

Just came back from a trip and especially through the airport, I wore my 2 month old in my Solly with a backpack. It was no problem

Kavu bags are really popular to use while babywearing. They are crossbody backpacks you can sort of swing around to access without taking them off. I always use one. You wear the baby first, then put on the bag. It's big enough to hold just the basic necessities for my baby and toddler plus wallet, keys, and phone.

@nana87: And keys! My husband once wore my daughter to take her to daycare, and put the carrier on over his backpack when he went to pick her up. He couldn't get his keys out without taking her out (and she was little and it was snowy and cold). He had to ask a passerby to get his keys out of his backpack pocket for him!

I much prefer having a back pack when I'm wearing a carrier. The only thing is it's tricky to get to--I tend to keep my phone and wallet in a pocket or my hand when I'm on the go. Also, if you're schlepping a car seat too, will you have a stroller that you're using for it as well? if so, I find a crossbody bag easier to quickly drape across the handle; my backpack needs lots of clipping to go onto my stroller handle and I'm too lazy for that lol

I really liked having the diaper bag backpack with the carrier. It made me feel more balanced than the times when I had a carrier and a shoulder bag. The straps did pile up and get a bit bulky but it was never particularly uncomfortable for me.

I'm having twins in a couple weeks and plan to baby wear a lot to prevent having to carry two car seats around. I'll probably pop one in a carrier and carry the other car seat. Because of this, I bought a shoulder strap diaper bag but when it arrived i realized it is HUGE. That may come in handy sometimes, but it is sooooo huge I don't think i'll want to carry it around every day.

So i'm thinking of getting a diaper bag backpack as well. Is it too hard to wear a backpack while baby wearing? I play to do a wrap carrier when they're little and a structured carrier as they get a little bigger. Is that too many straps / too in the way to have a backpack?
