I love having the wipes accessible without having to open the bag, it comes in handy in the car. We bought it for hiking before kids and it's still lasting strong through three kids. It has mesh side pockets for bottles/zippy cups and two zip up compartments plus the hydration compartments, which we love because it kept our own water bottles cold. We had an over the shoulder diaper bag when we had LO2 and it was so annoying. I felt like it would slide off my shoulder or was just too much work. We switched to a regular backpack with multiple compartments and it is perfect for when we are out. That's what we use pretty often and I really like it. I find there's plenty of room, if we are going to be outside for long periods I can easily stick a hydration pack in there so I don't have to worry about being out without water, there are lots of pockets for organization, and I can carry a ton of stuff without it hurting my back as much.
