We were afraid to get an inflatable pool because the dogs might destroy it (our dogs are sweet but we can't control their nails). We bought a pool on craigslist, it is actually supposed to be a sandbox so it is very thick and solid and comes with a cover and has a drain but holds water perfectly well. We definitely empty it out between uses. We have a small inflatable pool for the kids that comes with a cover, which we put on every time we're done using it.
