I had something similar happen where an ingrown hair turned into a staph infection when I was about 8 weeks along. I was put on something else (sorry, can't remember what it was at the moment), but it was a class B drug. I would mention that you feel uncomfortable about it being a class C and see if there's another suggestion for something a little safer. Also, lots of baths with epsom salt help healing along!

Oh dear. Definitely check with your OB, but be careful. My coworker had a scratch on his thumb and turned into a staph infection, spiked a fever of 105, and was in the hospital for a week. They eventually did surgery on it and carved a huge piece out and saved his thumb.

I took Bactrim while breastfeeding but not while pregnant. Just call your OB!

Oh my, I am really sorry. There are some homeopathic remedies for MRSA like Manuka Honey that you could talk about using.

I have had a cyst right on my underwear line for about a year now. My OB/GYN has been keeping an eye on it and always said that it was nothing to worry about and that it would be more trouble than it is worth to have it removed. It didn't bother me, so I let it be.

However, a couple weeks ago the cyst came to a head (I'm guessing from my underwear rubbing) and burst. It has been draining ever since. I have been keeping it clean and keeping antibiotic ointment on it.

Today, I had my 12 week check-up and had to see the other OB in the office (my first time seeing him). I had him check it and he did a culture and said it could be MRSA! WTF?! So, now I am freaking out. To make matters worse, he prescribed me a 10 day dose of Bactrim and the label says not to take while pregnant. I looked it up and it is a class C drug. Now I am freaking out even more.

Has anyone else used Bactrim while pregnant? Did everything turn out ok? Has anyone had a staph infection while pregnant? What are the implications for the baby?
