When my LO doesn't comfort nurse he will pop off around 5-7 mins. It used to bug me and worry me but he's gaining weight nicely, seems happy, wets his diaper and hitting milestones so I guess he's satisfied and sufficient.

Mine got super efficient around three months (~5 minutes or less, one side only). I stressed a little, but she was gaining weight and her diapers were still getting wet, so now I just appreciate it :)

yeah, she went through a phase around 3 months where she would scream at me after a couple minutes. i kept trying to force her, but she refused. everything else was the same, so i gave up and we were all happier!

P was ALWAYS a fast nurser & it wasn't until 7+ months that she really did any comfort nursing so we always had sessions between 3-7 minutes.

My 2.5 month LO eats from one boob for each feeding. For the last week she hasn't nursed for longer than 5 minutes before she pops off. (Most nursing sessions are around 3 minutes..every 2.5-3 hours) I've tried burping, changing positions, switching boobs, offering a bottle of pumped milk....she just isn't hungry. She seems to be happy, sleeps through the night and doesn't look underweight but I still can't stop worrying. :-(

Did your LO go through periods of eating very little?
