My little guy was like that until about 12 weeks. Now he's quite smiley for certain periods of the day and grumpy the rest :)

@LazyLightning: you're still in the 'fourth trimester' :) One of my nieces was like that and just super solemn. She became a lot of fun once she was a little older, don't worry! (and sorry, while I have a bad sleeping baby he is generally pretty darn happy)

@LazyLightning: It really does get so much better in so many ways. When she was your LO's age we were really in the trenches still. She's still not a "happy baby" but we have more good moments than bad and she has a happy mom! I think the bad mood babies are just not satisfied with this baby stuff - they're already thinking about bigger and better things. Good luck! You'll get there and it will be worth it.

@MrsF: this makes me feel better!

It's like she's contemplating the unfairness of life all the time. Lighten up, kid!!

@LazyLightning: It did take a while to develop (4 months or so? maybe a little longer). I used to be afraid to leave the house. It was all cranky-pants all the time. I'm not kidding. Now we try to get out and about as much as possible. The grocery store is her finest hour, so many people admiring her - she loves it!

My SIL and stepMIL used to say how serious she was all the time. Made me crazy! Now she will give these huge smiles for pictures and my other SIL always comments "not so serious anymore!" just to make me feel better :)

@MrsF: at least she's good in public?? Did that take a long time to develop? It's a real challenge to keep mine quiet anywhere.

My kid has a major 'tude. She loves being in public and will smile at everyone - they all talk about what a happy baby she is. At home... she's over me.

She's 10.5 too! (months, that is! ugh.)

Anyone else feel like your baby just has a bad attitude?? Aside from her occasional glimpse of contentment for a minute or two, she is such a crabby pants! If she's not crying she's "barking" at me or her toys on her playmat. (She doesnt "bat"--she hits it claws!) Without constant stimulation she immediately gets pissed off and screams until she's inconsolable. I am looking forward to her being more friendly - hopefully soon...she's 10.5 weeks.
