Thanks everyone! Sucks that we've all had to endure stupid MS!!! Decided not to tell the boss yet. I felt much better at noon so was able to stay and am now back to "normal" with taking 2 diclectin at night so far this weekend. I did want to tell him just to make everything easier, but I do not want my direct supervisor to know yet. She harassed a co-worker during most of her pregnancy very recently and I'm not ready to deal with that yet...

I would go ahead and tell if you think they'll be supportive. I told my boss, but not my coworkers, at 7 weeks. I was dealing with the public and my productivity was also suffering. I'd also had a previous loss, which is also told her about. She'd had a loss if her own, and was so supportive. I'm so glad I told her so early.

I didn't tell my boss early but I have an office with a door that I would frequently shut. I also never vomited (just felt like vomiting all.the.time.) so I could basically sit in my office being miserable and hide it pretty well. If I were in your situation I would probably tell him because I would need him to know what was going on with me.

ETA: Hang in there mama

Same response as @Rockies11:

I didn't want to, but I ended up telling my boss only (no coworkers or anything) around 7w.

Sorry you're experiencing this, it's horrible :(

I changed jobs in between pregnancies but I told both bosses around 7 weeks because my MS was so bad with my first. It never got nearly as bad with my second but I was worried it would. My bosses were supportive, particularly my current boss (who is female and my first boss was male).

@HellOnHeels: I had hyperemesis and told early both pregnancies because I was extremely ill and needed some accommodation.

ugh, so sorry :( I told my boss early, even though I really didn't want to. I worked in a small office and everyone talks. My poor coworker went through 4 rounds of IVF before getting a sticky baby and basically was sick for a year. Because we were friends (still are!) I knew what was going on and it was hard to hear everyone gossip about her and her "illness".

Because you work with the public and it's hard to get away, I'd just tell your boss so they can be a little more understanding if you have to bounce to the bathroom. For me, it wouldn't be an issue because I sit at a desk all day and can run to the bathroom whenever I need to.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I told my boss once I started feeling sick. It was nice to have someone to understand if I had to dash away from a patron or during a meeting. That way, you don't have to take time off but aren't expected to necessarily be 100% at work.

It's so hard! I also worked with the public and for part of my job had to be in a large room with several other co-workers so there was no where to hide. I did have to run out a few times and also snuck saltines and other snacks constantly, I thought everyone noticed because we were not supposed to eat at all. But when I told my boss at 14 weeks, she had no clue and other co-workers didn't either. I only took one day off because I was so dizzy from vomiting one morning that I couldn't drive and I had an hour commute.

So I would say do the best you can to get through it, realistically you probably won't feel better for several more weeks. Tell your boss if you really want to or if you think it would truly help. For me I was more stressed out about anyone knowing in the first trimester so I wanted to keep it quiet for as long as possible.

I told my boss pretty early, because I was so miserable at my desk all day and he actually asked me if I was unhappy with my job or with him so I kinda had to! It all worked out fine!

I would probably tell my boss and suck it up and go to work. That way, if you need to make a quick exit or if someone notices you're throwing up, they don't think you're sick or contagious. I don't know what your maternity leave options are, but I never wanted to take time off while pregnant so that I could maximize my PTO for my maternity leave. And, honestly, you're going to have several more weeks of morning sickness. You can't take all that time off.

So I had my first taste of MS (literally) between Christmas and New Years when I was just under 7 weeks. Was off for 2 days and went in for a half day. Everyone figured I just had the flu. My Dr prescribed diclectin and I've been 120% better since. Fast forward to today, and I feel worse then I did then. Head was in the toilet for most of this morning and just down for the count.

I really don't want to take any more time off work but at the same time I feel like I'll be useless. I may just take a half day this morning if I'm not better... But my question is, would you tell your boss you're KU so that they're not questioning you? Just suck it up and stay at work? Or hope no one will say anything? I work with the public so it's hard to get away if I have to ralph without anyone noticing.
