@podomama: Hi @podomama. My apologies that you have not received a reply as yet from the recalls@badgerbalm.com. I'll check into it and make sure that we reply right away. We are so sorry that the recall news has caused you any undue worry or concern. We are working with the toxicologist so that we can provide more in-depth information and ease the minds of those who used one of the affected sunscreens. That being said, we recommend that if you have any continuing concerns that you consult your healthcare provider and share information regarding this voluntary recall. As soon as Badger has additional information, we will share. Again, please accept our sincerest apology for any undue worry as a result of this recall.

Hi @deef (badger dee): thank you for your response, I did read the same info yesterday when the recall came out. I would normally not worry very much about it either, but my son does have an autoimmune condition and as for open wounds, I can't say for sure if he had one or not, it's possible he did since he often gets scrapes from playing on the playground everyday. Again, I cannot say with certainty that he got the hives from the sunscreen but at the same time I can't help but feel a little suspicious. Right after the hives episode my son developed a cough and still has it. I checked the upc# and lot # of my the sunscreen I bought and it did match the ones on the recall list. I am hoping it was one of the ones not affected but who knows. I did email the email address posted on the badger recall page (recalls@badgerbalm.com), but I have not heard anything back yet.

So, now I don' t know...should I be worried about my son's cough ? Should I take him to the doctor ....again ? I thought it was just a cold but now I'm all paranoid. What would you other moms do ?

Hello Podomama. Badger Dee here. Thanks for your post and I'm so sorry to hear that your son experienced hives. I wanted to address the nature of the contamination of the voluntarily recalled sunscreens. The"organisms" named in the third-party toxicology report are commonly found in the environment and on our skin and there is very little chance that products contaminated would cause any ill health effects when used on healthy skin as directed. There is a possible risk of infection if you applied this to damaged skin or an open wound or if your immune system was compromised. Badger has not had any reports of adverse reactions from use of these products. The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote and any potential health effects would be temporary and reversible. Badger staff, and even our founder and ceo, Badger Bill, used these sunscreens all summer long. Badger Bill used them on his three-year-old granddaughter and while he was concerned after first finding out about the problem, the toxicologist's report combined with the fact that we sold thousands of product and have received zero reports of adverse reactions, reassured all of us. We are very sorry this happened and will do everything necessary to see that this never happens again. To be on the safe side, we recalled all of the lots of Baby SPF although only a few of them were found to be compromised. Again, for normally healthy persons, these products should not have caused any problem. For more information and a listing of affected lots plus instruction for contacting us, please visit: http://www.badgerbalm.com/recalls.

I have the daily baby one and the aloe vera daily one ... my son broke out in hives for 5 days a few days after I started using them. I have no idea if it was because of the sunscreen but I know the hives were not caused by food. Does anyone know if Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Candida parapsilosis, or Acremonium fungi can cause hives ? I'm so paranoid now and totally disappointed in Badger.
