My allergist doctor said that it might be a mouth allergy due to pollen. (apples also give me vicious migraines) I went to the allergist as pecans were a new one for me and my mouth started to swell when I ate some recently. The Doc said it was probably oral allergy to ragweed. However I didn't react at all to any of the tests they did. So they just told me to avoid it and there wasn't much they could do. And to keep taking my Zyrtec. </p> <p>Walnuts used to just make my mouth hurt like you described so I just ate them anyways as it wasn't a big deal but now with the swelling I just avoid them all together better safe then sorry.</p> <p>It is also possible though you are reacting to something else in the fruit. My mom has to avoid anything high in vitamin C so citrus fruit, bell peppers... and other random things. But kiwi and walnuts also bother me sometimes. I've never gone to an allergist for it although my dad has for the same sort of thing. It gets a lot worse when I am pregnant. Then after a few minutes or half hour, it stops. I'm suspecting some new allergy because my mom has allergies to some fruit, but this is weird with the mouth pain. Anyone ever heard of this?? </p>
