I'm scared of this, so I found a local place that does bang trims for $10.

I let her watch something on the ipad while cutting her hair. She seems to be fine with that. when cutting her bangs, I just tell her to give me a sec while I'm blocking her view of the screen. I have hair cutting scissors. I mostly cut her hair dry so I can see the shape better. I've watched a number of youtube vids for cutting kids hair. I cut very little at a time. It takes longer but it helps prevent mistakes.

When I had bangs my hair stylist told me to make sure they were dry and to hold the scissors vertically and snip across -

I have better luck with trimming dry hair. I use hair cutting scissors.

Warning: If you cut the bangs when wet, cut them longer than you think they should be! Hair shrinks a bit when dry. Especially because when you cut the hair you're pulling it down. I had a friend cut her own bangs out of the shower once and it was.... tragic. lol.

Also personally I wouldn't twist... I would try to gather all the hair to the center and make one cut, but don't twist the hair first. That way the bangs will naturally be a little bit longer towards the temples and shorter in the center which I think looks nice.

As for keeping a toddler still enough to use scissors that close to her eyeballs??? you're on your own. I have no idea. :)

I cut LO’s bangs right after the bath – she doesn’t mind me cutting them, but just to be on the safe side I wrap her up in the towel and put on a youtube program to distract her. I think it's easier to cut her hair when it's wet than when it's dry.

I have hair trimming scissors (bought from Sally Beauty) and just take a fine tooth comb and bundle her bangs up and cut.

Take the bangs, twist them together and then cut into them, not across. I do this when I need to get my own bangs trimmed but don't have time....my bangs aren't straight across though, they're kind of sideswept.

For those that trim your daughters bangs yourself, any tips?

My (almost) 3 year olds bangs are covering her eyes and I need to trim them. She is very resistant to letting me, so any tips? Bribe? What kind of scissor do you use?

Thanks!
