I thought I'd update this in case anyone else was looking for ideas.

A friend suggested a charm bracelet with a religious charm to start out, and I LOVE the idea! Then we can add charms as she gets older and enjoy it for the rest of her life.

Thanks for the help all! I think I might go the silver jewelry route. That used to be a go to until I had so many nieces it got too pricey. Can't believe I didn't think of that! Thanks!

We are in the same situation. We went with a nice wooden Noah's ark shape sorter. I liked that it is biblical and it has an heirloom quality to it because it is wooden. Found it on amazon. We also got a Noah's ark book to go along and will write a message in there for him.

A simple cross necklace would be nice even if she won't be able to wear it for a while. You could engrave the back with the date of her baptism.

I think something engraved would be really special. Maybe something small since you don't want to interfere with the mom's decorating tastes.

What about something special for when she is older? A nice bible or even a children's bible or biblical story book. A rosary is for when she is much older, but still very special thing to have.

Try a Christian bookstore--I bet they have lots of ideas :)

DH and I are going to be godparents, so we feel like we should give our friends' baby a present.

But I'm at a loss. My family is Catholic, so most of my nieces and nephews have gotten saints statues or rosaries. This family is Lutheran.

I also know that the mom is super particular, so something like a cross to hang on the wall (or any other "decoration") would be touchy.

And I don't feel like cash would be that special.

Any ideas? I've already given her a handmade blanket and book of fairy tales when she was born.
