I def felt ridiculously tired in the first trimester! It was horrible--I couldn't go a day without napping as soon as I got home from work. I would even go to bed early--sometimes never waking from my nap. It did finally go away in the 2nd trimester, which was amazing.

I am a tad worried that it might be returning though--I hear that the exhaustion can come back in the the 3rd trimester. I'm hoping this isn't the case since I need to get a lot done these next 3 months.

It's nice to see people who are experiencing the same thing, most of my friends with children didn't go through any of this, even morning sickness...

@Colekbl: Yep! Mono felt the exact same way! Lame :-/

@Blushink: No kidding! Making breakfast, lunch and dinner, potty training, time-outs and still trying to give them attention? Rough. Hugs right back at you! And thank you!

I've tried talking to my mom since she had 4 children I thought it had to be hard on her but she never went through any of these symptoms!

@Tequiero21: In your hands?! Oh no! I have a feeling m/s might be coming to an end...I haven't been sick for 2 days now which is the longest stretch I've gone without being sick. But if it comes back at the same rate, I'll most definitely call the doctor.

I'm definitely 200% more tired this pregnancy then my first and honestly I think having a toddler is part of the issue. Even if you don't do much with your toddler.... it's still draining. I FEEL YOU. Big hug!

I'm so ready for my first trimester to be over! Luckily I haven't had any morning sickness but the exhaustion is another story. It's very reminiscent of when I had mono and I feel like such a lazy slug but I don't even have the energy to care!
I feel like it's a success to shower every other day now and it isn't uncommon for me to take 2 naps a day on the weekends.

I totally hated my first tri, making it through each day was such a n effort for, I could barely even keep my eyes open. Thank God that all changed in the 2nd tri

@HeatherlovesKenny: yeah @ sprinting to the bathroom. let's just say i threw up in my hands and mouth more than a few times. luckily, i still made it to the toilet, but my hands were nasty. i think if you're throwing up that much every day, you need to talk to the doctor because that's really a lot of loss of fliud and food.

Oh I can relate, I want to crawl under my desk for a nap every afternoon at work! One of DH's friends and his wife and son are coming to visit from out of state this week, and I'm dreading how I am going to make the house presentable. And I'm hosting Thanksgiving next week too! Just thinking about it makes me want to take a nap again.

I'm feeling the exact same way. My first was so easy, I had energy and barely any morning sickness. This time, I'm sick and EXHAUSTED. I'm ready to fall asleep at any given moment.

@MsMini: How often were you sick for before on the medication? I was sprinting for the nearest bathroom about twice a day thanks to morning sickness (oh and that's the only thing that could make me move so fast)

@Andrea: I feel like a good for nothing mom...but it helps that my son is more independent now. He understands that his mom doesn't feel great though and he's tries to take care of me. It's really sweet. I couldn't have done this if he was any younger and I don't know HOW any woman does unless it's an easy pregnancy.

@Artbee: you made me feel better, thanks! The couch and I have been buddies. I know it should be getting better in a month or two, at least I hope.

@skibobrown: maybe! I never thought pregnancy could feel this way...I remember people asking if I was tired last pregnancy and I had no idea what they were talking about. I just had bad morning sickness.

I was miserable during my 1st trimester. It makes me really nervous about eventually having a 2nd baby b/c I can't imagine watching a toddler while dealing with the 1st trimester exhaustion and nausea.
If this pregnancy is so different from your 1st one, maybe you're having a girl this time around...

I had migraines my first trimester, so I was on the couch just laying there doing nothing the whole time. Literally. I didn't work, I quit my job b/c we had a feeling that would happen. It was awful!

Half way through my second trimester they started going away, and I got my life back again. It will happen for you too!

I was so friggin tired during my 1st trimester. I don't know how you would take care of toddler feeling that way. I got home from work, ate some food, and then went straight to bed every night for the 1st trimester.

I had a horrible 1st trimester, exhaustion and hyperemesis make it hard to just function as a human being, let alone getting stuff done around the house, working etc. Luckily DH picked up the slack around the house, but work was terrible. I am just started to get more energy at 15 weeks, and we have me on a good cocktail of meds for the hyperemesis, so that helps a lot.

I felt the same way for a good 3 weeks. My husband suffered by eating cereal or eggs for dinner every night. I'm starting to feel better now in my 10th week. For a while there, I was just wondering what in the world was going on!!

I felt the same way in the first trimester. I seriously had to take a nap after doing minor chores around the house, where before I used to be able to power clean the entire house, and still not be tired. I'd take at least one nap a day, after practically doing nothing, and then still felt like I couldn't stay up past 9:00. It got to be pretty discouraging, but it did start to improve for me aroud week 13-14. I still feel like I tire quicker, but it's definitely better than the first trimester.

I'm happy I'm not alone on this...but if it's constant, has anyone thought there was something wrong?
I've debated whether to call the doctor this past week...I know being exhausted is normal but for some reason I have a "this doesn't feel right" attitude

I have had a pretty good first trimester (am just now 12 weeks) but there were definitely days where I daydreamed of sleep all day at work. I have tried to get in quick workouts and rather than resting after work, I try to do some stuff around the house - it sometimes helps keeps my energy up. But, I have no real advice for you, sorry : ( I have read that when you feel super exhausted/nauseous, get up and take a quick walk.

Yup! I was very active prior and now I can't even walk from the couch to the bathroom without feeling like I need to take a rest half way there! From what I hear every pregnancy is different so I wouldn't compare one pregnancy to the next. I have thankfully not been TOO nauseous, so now i'm already worried for #2 (should we be blessed) that I will be talking to the toilet so to speak. It will get better, at least that's what i'm going with! Good luck :)

I've been feeling really horrible lately...my whole body is fatigued so much to the point where I'm not getting anything done around the house. The most I do is dishes, then I lay down! I feel like a slug and I never felt like this last pregnancy. I do take care of my 2 1/2 year old, but I haven't been as active or playful with him as I want to be. I can't even put into words how I'm feeling...zero energy, needing to be in bed by 7pm, barely ever on my feet, I feel horrible when I'm out of the house...

Last pregnancy, I worked full time, finished my last year of college, took a vacation and was so on top of everything all during the first trimester! Now that seems impossible. Maybe because I'm older? Only by 3 years so it's not adding up to me.

Is anyone else going through this? Absolutely no energy and not getting anything done?
