@daniellemybelle: cool - I'll look at the ingredients on the soap. DD2 has really sensitive skin, so we've had to eliminate bath crayons/markers.

@daniellemybelle: question about that moldable soap, do you find it dissolves quickly?

This isn't really a toy but Lush makes this bath "playdoh" - it's a moldable soap. Genius! She played with it forever tonight and it made getting her clean easy.

@looch: That's a fabulous idea! I have some of those brushes in our sensory/painting stuff and play kitchen - I'll try tossing them in the tub.

@Finfan: I didn't know Green Toys were dishwasher safe - that's a good tip! I'll have to have a look!

@AB810: What brand are those animals? It looks like the don't have holes in the bottom (so no water can get in), am I right?

Paintbrushes, I found one that's actually a silicone basting brush, it's great. Other than that, cups, a baster (we like kitchen stuff), sponges, cars.

Mine love to play with duplos in the tub. But the favorites are just cups and empty shampoo/soap bottles with the cap that they can squirt. The bigger the container the better.

LO plays with a bunch of small plastic dolls. There is a littlest kingdom Ariel set that comes with a boat that's a bath time favorite. They are small enough that they dry quickly after the bath

Mine are 2 and 3, I let them pick one thing from the playroom to bring. Obviously only enclosed plastic toys. Right now I have a hammer and a donut in my bathtub.

@PinkElephant: that was my thought too. And he has had fun putting small ones inside big ones or hiding little toys inside. :)

@jhd: Easter eggs! That's a good one - they can't get enough of those out of the bath....and I can just toss them if they start to get gross.

LO is almost two and lately has been playing with non bath toys in the bath. Hot wheels, plastic Easter eggs, and his Daniel Tiger figurines. I remember my sisters playing with Barbies in the bath a lot growing up.

What (if anything) does your older toddler/preschooler do or play with in the bathtub?

My girls (almost 2 and 4) play with cups and squirters...they have a fishing set that they don't really like, and a net/wind up bugs that also don't get much play. Looking for new ideas - especially things that are easy to clean (ie go in the washing machine or a bucket of diluted bleach solution to kill mold). Doesn't have to be intended for the bath - I was thinking of designating a pair of babies or barbies as bath toys.
