@luckypenny: sorry :-( DD used to get nasty ones with each round of antibiotics (w/ blisters). We put Lotramin in her 3x/day and cover it with a thick diaper cream (usually Triple Paste) and we gave her as much diaper free time as we could. It would look significantly better in a couple days.

@luckypenny: Our yeast diaper rash responded well to sun/diaper free time and a 3 layer mix of generic monistat gel/ cortisone cream/ boudreaux's natural zinc oxide (pediatrician recommendation). Lotrimin did not work on our yeast. He was in disposables when we applied that 3X a day and then I disinfected our cloth with grapefruit seed extract for 2 weeks.

I'd check if your zinc cream has cornstarch in it (allegedly it feeds the yeast) and maybe try adding some sunshine?

Sorry you're going through this! We dealt with a yeast rash for all of May. First I used Nystatin and Butt Paste. It went away after a few days, then came back. Then the Dr. added in hydrocortisone. Didn't really see a change, so she finally added an antibiotic cream. Knock wood, that seemed to have done the trick. She also said stop the Butt Paste and switch to Aquaphor. I hated using all those medications at once but the combo finally helped. Good luck!!

Bumping because E has a yeast diaper rash and has for about 2.5 weeks! Any other remedies? We have been using a prescription cream 4x/day with aquaphor, zinc cream and air drying

Vinegar is a homeopathic treatment for yeast. I have treated yeast rashes on both daughters by applying some apple cider vinegar with a small spray bottle at diaper changes.

@lolabee: For my dipes I first turned my water heater up, then did an apple cider vinegar soak followed by a regular hot wash (did another full hot wash instead of a cold rinse), then dried in the dry on hot. THEN I repeated the acv soak but followed by stripping the dipes instead of a regular soap wash, & then sunned them. I read that you can use tto BUT to get the dilution you need to really "treat" yeast you'd have to put a ton so I just went the acv, hot water, & hot dry/sunning way.

For the probiotic, I got a liquid kind (don't remember the brand) & gave P 1 ml a few times a day via syringe. Tbh I stopped using it early bc she had/has a dairy & soy intolerance & at the time I couldn't find one that wasn't cultured in either dairy or soy. I do know they make pedi probiotics too though... I think Target carries them!

And I didn't try nystatin so I don't know much about it but I'd think even a small spray bottle with water & 5+ drops of tto would work & that's natural.... You may google for a specific dilution.

@runsyellowlites: Ahhh thank you! This sounds very helpful! I forgot to add that I do baking soda baths and have added some into the water bottle we use for diaper changes. A couple questions...

How did you treat your dipes initially/every wash?
I've been wondering about giving him a probiotic...I boosted my intake to 4 a day in hope it would help him too. How much did you give to P? Did you just rub it on her gums?
Did you use any certain brand of diapers in the interim?

I will admit I didn't use the Nystatin for very long...I was uber freaked out about the contraindications. There's gotta be a better treatment than steroids I figured..

It took us 5 weeks to completely clear up a yeast rash P had. I waited out 4 weeks before I put her back in her cloth. The biggest thing with yeast rashes is to not stop treatment just because visually the rash is gone, you have to continue for a week!

I made my own rash cream to cover all the issues we needed.
Equal parts of:
Aquaphor - skin protectant
Lotrimin- yeast
Neosporin - the sores she developed
& Maloxx for acidity (add till you get the consistency you want)

It went on ever diaper change until she was completely clear! And I treated her dipes like 4 times before putting them back on her AND started her on a probiotic to help get the yeast back in check. Oh & baking soda baths helped soothe too!

Now I make a natural cream to prevent yeast issues... If you added more tea tree oil it may actually work for treating it too!
2 oz Coconut oil & a squirt of lanolin (you could leave this out completeky) whipped w/ a couple drops of tea tree oil & 5 drops of lavender oil (I hate the smell of tto) in a spray bottle I had (it's warm here so the coconut oil is almost always in liquid form).

The diaper free time & blow dryer helped too so definitely keep that up! And don't forget to treat your cloth wipes EVERY wash. Hopefully it'll clear up soon, yeast stinks! GL

I have been battling a yeast rash for the majority of my poor lil man's life. I feel absolutely terrible every time I change his diaper. I'm at a loss of what to do to make it go away...any knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

Things I have tried:
-Clotrimazole
-Nystatin
-Sudocrem (before I knew it was a yeast rash)
-Peachy Baby (a CD friendly cream made locally)
-I only wipe with water & a cloth wipe
-blow dry to make sure he's dry before diapering
-as much diaper free time as we can manage
-switched to Seventh Generation diapers instead of cloth for the last week....to see if it would clear up.

Cloth diapering Mama's I stripped my diapers when I found out it was yeast and haven't used them since. I really want to go back to them. If I use a Grovia liner while he has the rash will I reinfect my diapers?
