@Mrs. Pen: haha I guess I figured the workouts would get harder. I just meant intensity of soreness. Up until yesterday I was nearly in tears when my kids would sit in my lap. Glad to know it won't be quite as bad the entire time. I thought I was dying! lol

@Mrs. Sunshine: haha omg Yes! I found that even though I had been working out consistently prior to trying her program, it was just a different type of workout. I realized that to get over the soreness I really just have to keep working through it- keep up with the program. And don't forget the rehab/stretching/foam rolling at the end of a workout and once a week! It makes a difference for soreness for sure.
The soreness gets a little better as your muscles adapt to those types of movements, but the workouts don't get less intense. Actually, as you go on, they get harder. She will increase reps (in the actual program, she will start with 10 burpees in a circuit, by week 6, she ups it to 15, for example). But you do begin to get used to it and you may get a little sore but not like that first week or two sore :) hang in there!!

@Mrs. Pen: not trying to thread jack but I'm trying her free week (and plan on continuing with her free 4 week summer series) and I am still SO sore from leg day on Monday. Did you experience this? I usually work out about 5 days a week (but definitely not as hard as her workouts are) so I thought I'd get over this more quickly! I even switched arm and ab day to give my legs a bit more rest. Did it get a bit less intense?

@akcoffeebean: @Eko: no problem, ask away!
Yes, the focus on strength is what gets me too. I already notice muscle definition in my arms, legs, calves, and even midsection. I feel stronger and even though I haven't lost substantial amount of weight, it doesn't even matter because I can see the progress with my pictures and that's because of muscle mass!
So I do my BBG slightly differently. When I first started, I usually couldn't make it through each circuit in only 7 minutes, so I would just do the four circuits in however long it took me. Now that I'm on my second round, I can do two circuits in seven minutes typically, so I just use the stopwatch on my phone or watch. I go through each circuit as many times as possible in 7 minutes, then when 7 minutes is up, I move into the next circuit.
@eko: I'm pretty strict with the program. Although I don't follow her diet. I do the three resistance a week, and add in at least two more workouts a week of either HIIT or LISS (which is usually just speed walking, fitness yoga, casual biking, sometimes jogging). But I always do her three resistance workouts each week.
Sometimes I do them at home! Depends on my mood. It's nice to be able to not have to go to the gym every day if I'm short on time.
Since I do have a gym membership though, I ise the weights at the gym. I personally like kettlebells and use a 15 lb kettlebell for a lot of the weight stuff (like squat and press, weighted Jack knifes, lunges, and step ups).
I truly believe you can get very fit with body weight alone though! I know a lot of people who modify the workouts so they can just do them at home and it still works.

@LulaBee: @birdofafeather: thank you ladies 😘

I've got the 21 day fix workouts and think if I did them consistently would provide good results. I also really enjoy Fitness Blender- which you can get for free on Youtube.

@Mrs. Pen: thank you for the feedback! And congratulations on all your hard work! It's great to hear it's empowering, the focus on being strong is really appealing to me.
I didn't realize that the workouts aren't saved on the app. That's annoying. How do you time your workout? Stopwatch? Sorry for the dumb questions, I've been a treadmill and rowing machine user until now. Your pics are super inspiring!

@Mrs. Sunshine: yeah I think if you ge the pdf it's more economical. With the app, from what I've heard, you don't get to keep the weeks you've paid for. So once you complete the 12 weeks, you've spent $60 and don't get to keep the guide. If you just spend the $60 upfront, you get the pdf.

thanks!! the bra is a bralette from aerie - affordable, so cute, and comfortable!

I LOVE BBG. like I could sing it's praises for days.
I will say, I haven't used the app, though some of my friends have and really like it.
I have the PDF, and it's cheaper overall, and I still can save it to my phone (I saved to my kindle app) and use it during my workouts.
I personally do typically go to the gym to do the workouts, but you can do it with minimal equipment. I have a lot of friends who do bbg as well and several of them workout at home. You said you have a bench and some handweights? That's perfect! I think that's a perfect way to start, and if you like it, you can always add more equipment (like a medicine ball).
The workouts are quick, intense, and effective. I really really love bbg. And Kayla.

Here is my 21 week progress photo using BBG and eating well :)

I only tried the one week trial. The thing I don't like about it is that you almost need to be at the gym to do the workouts, unless you have the equipment at home. I need a more flexible plan for my life.

I'm using the BBG app (1week free trial) and like it. I like the workouts and interface plus it's mostly body weight work.

It's $20 a month for a subscription to the app. This seems like a lot to me.

Has anyone used BBG and thought the $$ worth it? Done something similar and less pricey?

I lost a ton of strength while pregnant and am looking to add strength. I'm not looking to lose weight but am hoping to increase muscle mass and hopefully decrease body fat. Am eating clean (except for beer 1-2x a week) and have increased protein now that I'm not meat averse like I was while pregnant.

Thanks for any advice, program suggestions or reviews!
