@artbee: Thank you! I think I missed the Memorial Day post, but I will definitely check it out. We have lots of hats and will definitely be investing in an umbrella.

Our doctor said you can start sunscreen at 3 months, just make sure you wash it off in the bath that night. We just use a normal bathing suit, but we don't stay out in the sun long, and we have an umbrella. LO is fine with us putting sunscreen on her so far.... but that can always change. I also like to keep a sun hat on her, but that's also getting hard to do because she just pulls it off. Did you check out the blog post on memorial day? Mrs. Bee wrote about swim suits and things to help with the sun.

@cvbee: Thanks! She's sticking her hands (and feet) in her mouth all the time so I'm thinking the less sunblock on her, the less sunblock she'll eat.

After 3 summers of babysitting wee ones who live near the beach, I am a huge fan of full-body swimsuits. No worrying about burns. Less sunblock to put on. Less sand sticking to sunblock skin. The babies/kids never said they were hot. If they do get hot, they can just go in the water!

We live in New England so I'm just starting to think about beach gear for our LO. She's 5 months now, so she'll be old enough for sunscreen soon, but I'm trying to imagine applying it on a squirming, sand-covered infant and I'm not looking forward to it.

I used to think they looked ridiculous, but I am starting to look at those fullbody swimsuits for baby. I'm thinking about this kind: http://www.coolibar.com/03704b.html or maybe a two-piece with a long sleeved top and a swim diaper cover for the bottom.

Does anyone have any advice about swimsuits? These full-coverage suits look like they would be HOT, but I don't know! LO is very fair and blond so I want to make sure she's as protected as possible.

Also, we have a Kidco Peapod tent, but the instructions say it does not offer full sun protection. Any recommendations on a good place for baby to sleep/play on the beach?
