I finally went to the website today, since I didn't realize that Insanity and P90x were actually Beachbody programs. The program my friend talks about a lot is the 21-Day Fix. Basically it helps you learn how much of what foods you can eat per day (so how many proteins, fruits, etc), and has a daily 30-minute workout. It only lasts 21 days, but my friend says you get on track with eating the way the program tells you to eat, so it's much easier to maintain than other crash/fad diets. I think you do use Shakeology, too, but only to replace one meal/snack a day.

What I like about it is that a) it's only 21 days, b) you are still buying/making your own food, and c) you join a "challenge group" so there are others to commiserate with and keep you motivated.

Has anyone done something similar?

P90X was awesome.... and I did see results and I usually felt good after the workouts.

BUT it's a huge time sink. I mean, you're working out over an hour most days that include Ab Ripper, and Yoga takes about an hour and a half, although finally making it to the stretching bit is wonderful.

I had lots of trouble committing to it every day. You skip one day, and then maybe 2 next week... or just drop it completely.

I just do a Keto diet now. I might start regularly playing with the TotalGym slide thing we have to get some muscles showing again... maybe.

@yoursilverlining: yea, i have a few beachbody coaches and the photos with the captions are pretty ridiculous. I'm not a believer in shakes being regular meal replacements (emergency meal? on the go? sure)

PS statistics show that you reap the most benefits of an exercise program when you put in 5 hours/week. More isn't always better. But less sometimes isn't enough. Very diet dependent

I have a FB friend who is a BB coach and posts annoyingly non-stop about it. She is in great shape and does the shakes and everything, but really….she’s working out at least an hour a day, every single day and having shakes in place of meals. I think if you can commit to that level of effort, you’re going to see great results no matter what program you use.

DH and I've done p90x, I didn't commit like DH did and still saw results, DH was in the best shape of his life when he did the program. We didn't buy the products and supplements, but made our own loose meal plan and protein shakes, etc.

I've always liked the idea of having a "coach" to help you out. That being said, I've never been a big fan of all the supplements they hock in general. The work outs are hard and great if you like to work out at home, though!

I did Insanity for awhile and loved it. Shaun T was really personable and fun in the video. I didn't do the shakes or anything, but did follow their meal plan guidelines. I looked awesome when I was doing it. It really jump started my metabolism. I stopped when I was pregnant, but I think it's what caused me to bounce back so quickly after my first.

I have a friend who is a Beachbody rep. She looks absolutely fantastic, and posts a lot about the program. I need to do something to kick me into gear. Has anyone ever done the Beachbody program? Did it work? Was it difficult to stick to it? Have you maintained your weight loss since the program ended? Was it worth the money?
