@MamaMoose: Okay, I was kind of thinking that! My ped asked me about other things like rolling and head control and grasping things, but definitely didn't ask about this one!

@Adira: the first time my ped even asked me about this milestone was at the 6 month check up so I definitely wouldn't worry about it at 4.5 months. My LO started doing this early (like two months) but all babies are different! If it was something to worry about at this point your ped would have asked about it at the 4 month check up.

I don't remember what age my son started putting weight on his legs, but he's 9.5 months now and still doesn't care for it. He *can*, but he'll buckle pretty quickly or refuse to put his legs down. He can still crawl & the pediatrician said its not an issue until a year. I'm sure Xander is fine, but you could call the pediatrician tomorrow to check in with them.

@Weagle: Thanks!!

@Smurfette: Yeah, I guess I should call my ped. Hopefully she says I'm worried over nothing.

@cmomma17: His next appointment isn't until September.

I'd call your pediatrician just for peace of mind at least. Maybe talk to the daycare director and see if they could make an exception for Xander even though the deadline passed. I wish she had given you this information sooner.
My LO is opposite and is quite obsessed with straightening his legs, but that doesn't mean anything.
You haven't f'd up, try not to worry. When's his next regularly scheduled check up?

@Adira: I would call tomorrow and see what they say. It might not be anything to worry about. If he does need it, why couldn't he start now?

My friend's LO definitely wasn't at this age, but he's starting to pull up now at 9 months. He's still not super steady when you stand him on your lap, but he's working on it. They didn't do any PT.

@Smurfette: I didn't call the pediatrician. I decided that I wasn't worried about the PT, but when I told the lady that today, she pointed out he can't bear weight on his legs, but my ped office is already closed. Maybe I should call tomorrow?

When I try to stand him up, he just goes totally limp or he curls his legs up so he's not standing on them anymore.

Xander was evaluated for physical therapy at daycare (he's 4.5 months) and it was suggested that he could benefit from it because he has "lower muscle tone than expected." We were just at the pediatrician a couple of weeks ago and my pediatrician didn't ask me if he could do anything that he couldn't do, so I wasn't overly concerned. Today, I told the daycare to let them know we wouldn't be doing physical therapy, and the woman I spoke to mentioned that Xander can't support his weight on his legs at all and his legs just go limp when you try to put weight on them.

So... now I'm concerned (but I have already missed the window to do the physical therapy - would've needed to turn in the paperwork already). When were your LOs able to bear weight on their legs? Did anyone else have a 4+ month old that couldn't? Did you do anything to improve it? How are they now? Please let me know I haven't totally f'd up Xander already by not doing this physical therapy...
