@Foodnerd81: I have nothing constructive to say--only I got really excited then because I thought this was you & C and I don't think I've seen photos of either of you before!

I just tried again and I think part of it is that I switched to the wider seat base too soon. It was making her straddle me too wide I think because switching back to the narrow seat made us both more comfortable. But I will have to check her butt in the seat too.

@Revel: I got the Tula Toddler carrier. And I started using it even before she was at the required minimum weight of 25lbs but her length was the thing that really mattered for this. She no longer feels like she's about to topple out of the carrier.

I have this carrier and I know exactly what you mean. I think I agree with both of @brownie: 's suggestions. I play with the tightness of the shoulder straps, and I really try to get her in a good seat. I'll kind of lift her up and "bounce" her into the seat pocket, once we're all buckled, if that makes any sense.

I wonder if it's a design flaw with the gemini though. @mrsjazz: which carrier did you switch to?

So there are a few things you can try. I definitely started pulling the shoulder straps a lot tighter and that helps. The other thing is how they are positioned sitting in the carrier. There is almost a grab and tuck thing you have to do with their butt to get them in the right position so even though they are higher, they are still very secure.

I literally grab the thighs at pretty much where they meet the but and make sure that he tucks his butt into a sitting position. This makes more of a pouch at the butt area of the carrier. So it is more like they are sitting. Then I tighten the shoulder straps until it feels like he is in a lot more.

Attached isn't the best picture and I would try and pull his butt under a little more so that his knees are up. But this is my guy.

@Foodnerd81: I'm no help because I didn't find a solution (though my babe was bigger than yours when I had this issue) so I ended up switching carriers.

Oh, and C is much smaller than this baby, which is why I feel like it might be wrong.

I love my Beco Gemini carrier, but the fit seems weird lately. So far I only do front facing in, C is 6 months old, 16 pounds. I cross the straps in the back, have the hip belt just above my hips, no issues there.

C has been pulling her arms up above the straps, like in this picture (not me and C). And then she leans way back in the carrier, seeming sort of unsafe and uncomfortable, though I don't feel like she will fall out or anything. I have the top part folded down, like in the picture, because she hates when it's up and blocks her view, but when it's down her shoulders are pretty high above the top.

Any idea what's wrong? Straps tighter? Is she not sitting deeply in the seat enough? I can try and take a picture later, but I wanted to type this while she naps and I can think straight!
