Good point @Ms.SK....there is no hard medical evidence that bedrest prevents pre-term labor. But, I suppose that's because few woman would want to be part of a control group that has pre-term issues and takes the chance of not bedresting! I do know that for me, I was having contractions all the time when on my feet and beresting has really reduced them (and when I spend too much time on my feet in a given day, I get more of them). But who really knows.

I am having twins and was put on bed rest at 22 weeks. My cervix has shortened and they wanted me to get rid of my work stress. You should be prepared though that bed rest is falling out of style. There is no hard evidence that it really does anything. My first perinatologist didn't believe in it but my new one does. I was in the emergency room of a different hospital last week and they tolde it was "voodoo medicine" (but that's another story).

@MerryC: That's great news that you don't have any complications! And a great idea to take it easy during weeks 32-36. You will be exhausted! Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm so thankful that the bedrest has worked - I can't imagine how it would have been if he had been born at 30.5 weeks : (

Hi Ladies! I'm still chugging along at 25.5 weeks with absolutely no complications, thank goodness. I'll be 32 weeks around Memorial Day and figure I'll probably use June as my time to stay home and rest as much as possible until the babies come, even if I'm not on official bed rest.

@winniebee: I'm sorry you had to go on bed rest, but I'm so glad you've been able to make it these extra weeks! You're so much closer to term already, which is awesome for your little boy. I'm sure if I have to go on bed rest eventually, I"ll be scouring all your posts from the last few weeks :)

@MerryC: Curious if you are on bedrest now or still chugging along on your feet? I'm almost 34 wks and have been on bedrest xfor 3.5 weeks (not with multiples).

Did you have to go on bed rest with your multiples? At how many weeks and why?

I'm trying to be prepared to go on at least modified bed rest at any point in the third tri, but I've read conflicting things on how common it really is.
