@2littlepumpkins: I had bleeding start with DD2 the week i found out I was pregnant. It was pretty significant bleeding, so I was brought in for an ultrasound at 4w5d to rule out an ectopic. We weren't able to see much on ultrasound except the ability to determine an interuterine pregnancy, and my RE suspected it was my progesterone suppositores causing cervical irritation.

I kept bleeding, though, and it was usually bright red. I passed some clots that were small. At my routine 8w scan they found a .5" SCH which is pretty small. She said if I hadn't been seeing her, it likely would have bled out or absorbed by the time I had my NT scan.

As it turns out, it did. I went for an 11 week NT scan and my SCH was completely gone.

I bled a lot though, especially compared to the size of the bleed. I was put on pelvic rest which meant no heavy lifting or pushing and no sex or orgasm.

Good luck!

I had a SCH. I'm 13 weeks now and it's gone and baby is doing fine.

I had bad, period-like cramps and a lot of red bleeding at 6w5d. I had an IUI to get pregnant so I was seeing my RE. Went in to see him and they saw the SCH on the u/s.

He put me on partial bedrest, I guess. He said any day I have bleeding or cramping (like period cramping), he wanted me on bedrest (or at least on the couch with my feet up. Not strict - ok to take a shower or get something to eat but otherwise resting.

If no cramping or active bleeding, until the SCH resolved I could go to work (I just work at a desk job, sitting all day) but had to take it easy otherwise: no lifting, no sex, no exercise; rest with feet up when possible. He also put me on magnesium pills 3x a day - he said it relaxes the muscles of the uterus to help the cramping (??).

I also had ultrasounds every week to check on it. I just had my NT scan at 12 weeks and it was gone! Hope it works out for you!

@2littlepumpkins: I had a big sch. Not put on bedrest. I was spotting/bleeding from 5 weeks on. My betas didnt double either. She had me come in everyweek until 8 weeks when hb was strong. The day after my nt scan I had a major bleed. Bloodclot and everything. It was just my body passing the sch. After that no sign of it or bleeding. Never affected the babies. 24 weeks along with twins. I can completely understand the stress. the waiting just sucks! hope everything turns out good and your sch just dissappears.

I had one as did three of my friends. Only one of us was put on bedrest. All had healthy babies or are about to. The stats I read online re; sch and miscarriage are way out of whack with what my doctors told me.

@2littlepumpkins: mine was really tough too, despite normal beta numbers. I had bright red bleedding a lot, then all the ultrasounds had problems with them - couldn't see anything, then low heart rate, then finally a normal ultrasound but lots more bleeding. I did betas every three days for weeks, and had an ultrasound every week until 10 weeks. It was so stressful to not know what was happening for weeks on end! Hang in there. I feel for you!

@Rockies11: @yoursilverlining: Thank you ladies! I guess I would feel more positive but we haven't been able to see much on the u/s despite betas that are ok. Find out tomorrow if there is a hb or if it's going to be a m/c. And we'll see what she says about bed rest too.

I had a medium sized one but was not put on bed rest. My OB told me to take it easy, and no sex or tampons to stem the bleeding. It cleared up on its own by around 20 weeks. Good luck!

I had a larger one that started before I knew I was pregnant and lasted until 10 weeks. It seems that doctors are pretty split on bedrest for them - I wasn't put on bedrest and neither were a few of my friends who had them, although it seems common in the States. From the literature I read, bedrest didn't tend to effect the outcome, but it did have the mother feeling like the did everything possible, so that's a good thing. A small SCH has good outcomes! I know a lot of people who have had them (including myself) and all the pregnancies went on to be successful.

If you had a SCH, do you mind sharing if you were on bed rest and if so, for how long?

I was diagnosed with a "small" one at about five weeks, and have been on bed rest for about a week and a half. If (and it's kind of a big if) the pregnancy is viable I'm wondering if I can expect to be off bed rest soon. My OB thought it might resolve in a week or so, and it's been a week since she said that.
