We usually are doing bedtime stuff between 7 and 8.

Can you husband have time in the morning with your LO? Not sure about what the mornings look like for you, but for a while, that was when my husband and son hung out a lot!

@mrsjazz: if she wakes up early he will usually take her for a little while so I can get a little extra sleep. He should leave by 8 but in wonderful days she sleeps until then. He usually does get at least a little time in the morning no matter what.

@Foodnerd81: DS started napping better around 6 months. But now at 11 months it is crap again. He seems to be able to stay up until at least 8, no matter if he naps or not. Maybe it will get easier when she is older, but now I would just let her sleep when she needs it.

@Foodnerd81: I've been meaning to reply to your other posts about napping. Don't feel bad. I have a horrendous napper too. I've been trying in vain for months to get K to nap consistently.

Back to this topic. K's bedtime routine starts ~ 9pm every night. It's this late just so that DH is able to see her most nights for the brief bath & getting dressed for bed period. I've considered moving it up, but then they'd really never see each other. She's pretty used to the routine. If she had a particularly long stretch since her last nap, I'll try to move up bedtime sooner. But even if she's asleep, she'll tend to wake up at 9 and we have to do the whole routine anyway. Ugh - tonight was rough. She napped 1 hr 1st nap, 30 min. 2nd nap, and stayed UP for over 6 hours. I could not get her to nap again as hard as I tried.

I get home from work between 5:30 and 6. DH picks up LO from daycare and gets home between 4:30 and 5. We usually get him to bed between 7 and 7:30. So usually I get about an hour at most with him before getting ready for bed. Totally stinks but we have to be up and out the door by 7am so in order for him to get enough sleep we need to keep an earlier bedtime.

Our kid's bedtime has been 8:30 p.m. for a while. She gets up at 7 a.m. If she needed to sleep earlier we would put her to bed earlier. She used to be a 10/11 p.m. bed time baby so we were happy that she finally got used to 8:30 p.m.

M goes to bed at 7 and wakes up at 7. Whoever is home puts her to bed and on any given night it may be me or Mr. jacks... Just depends who is working later. Sometimes we're actually bot home. Whenever we try to keep her up til one of us gets home, it always turns into a disaster, so we don't do it anymore!

DS used to go to bed at 9, and DH would get home at 7:30. DH then got a new shift and got home at 6:30. We aren't sure if DS got 'confused', but he moved his bed time up to 8 after that. So he still only gets an hour and a half with DH at night.

@Foodnerd81: how old is she again? When DS started napping better, everything was easier. DH gets home around 6 and DS goes to bed around 8. If he wakes up early in the morning I will put him in bed with me and he will go back to sleep. That way his schedule is shifted a bit and he is up on the later side.

We get home at around 5:15pm, dinner at 5:30pm, and LMW goes up for bedtime at 6:00pm! She is seriously sleep deprived on daycare days (they only do one nap, and she needs two) so she has to go to bed early. It's sad, but we get plenty of family time on the weekends. Oh, and she's up at 5:30 so we see plenty of her in the mornings :) (yes, we've tried pushing her bedtime later and earlier and nothing seems to make a difference, and pushing it later makes her wake up even earlier!)

DH and I carpool and we pick up DS at daycare around 4:45pm. Bedtime is 7pm. He's often cranky when we pick him up because he doesn't nap well at daycare, so we are lucky if we get 2 hours of (happy) awake time.

@Foodnerd81: DH fortunately has a job with somewhat flexible hours, so he goes in early and tries to be home by 445. Some days it's unavoidable, and he gets home at 5:15, LO skipped his second nap so dinner is at 5:30 and he was in bed asleep by 6:30.

I do try to call and warn him if bedtime is going to be earlier than normal in the hopes he can come home earlier and catch up on work from home when LO is in bed. But that isn't helpful if your SO can't adjust their hours!

What time does your LO usually wake up from his last nap of the day?

DS is 8 months old, and his bedtime depends on when he wakes up from his last nap of the day. His bedtime is 3-4 hours after his last wake up time. So if he wakes up at 2:30 pm... then I put him to bed at 6:30 pm.

We both get home around 5-5:30 pm.

We get home at 6:00 and his bedtime is 8:30.

When he was younger we would let him take a short cat nap once we got home so that he wouldn't be fussy later. The nap never affected his night sleep, and he would sleep from 8:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. We did it this way so that we could spend more time with him at night, and so he wouldn't wake up too early in the morning. {I'm solo in the mornings, and this allows me to get ready and get things done around the house before leaving for the day.}

What time is your LO's bedtime? What time do you and your SO get home from work?

I am struggling with this right now- C seems to be wanting to move Her bedtime earlier- it was between 8-9 but lately by 7 she's ready for the wind down. I'm a sahm, but Dh gets home around 7 so it's tough and I know she will probably move it earlier.

How do other people handle this?
