@DesertDreams88: DD1 would NEVER go back to a crib. We bought her a cot. She was used to it from daycare and loves her little cot. I got her this one (but it comes in lots of colors): https://www.amazon.com/Joovy-Foocot-Child-Cot-Pink/dp/B015ZL8QYU/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1504719184&sr=8-1&keywords=foocot&th=1

@DesertDreams88: O transitioned herself out of her crib at 20 months after a hospital stay. She will sleep in a pack and play at my parents sometimes, but isn't happy about it. We found this thing, which we've been using for hotels, etc. She loves it.

@youboots: This is where we are, too. She refused to sleep in pack n plays despite sleeping in a crib at home. We just concerted her crib four nights ago. We have a toddler cot for when we travel. Hopefully it works.

Switched our toddler to a twin bed at 20 months to prep for baby at 22 months. She sleeps in a pack and play at houses away from home with no issue. My nephew slept in a pack and play for sleepovers at my house until he was 2.5 and he had a regular twin bed he slept in at home. Also no issue.

We have the opposite problem our daughter would sleep in a crib at home but not a pack and play while traveling. We got her a cot. A couple months later we converted her crib

We moved DS to a twin bed at 2.5 and he continued to nap in a pack n play 5 days a week at his nanny share until a few weeks before he turned 3.

We moved DS1 to a regular bed when he was 21 months (this past May.) Since then, we've had to figure out sleeping arrangements for approx 3 weeks total away from home. He's slept in hotel beds, guest rooms, and his pack n play and never really had an issue switching between them. We just keep his bedroom routine the same no matter where we are, and he seems to accept that wherever we lay him down is where he should sleep. (As a side note, hotel rooms are definitely the worst, because he's excited we're still there with him AND there's a TV in the room.)

LO is 19m and we might have the beginnings of a crib-to-bed transition coming upon us. I think he's going through that 18 month sleep regression or something, and sometimes we've coped by laying down with him in the bed that's already in his room. He sleeps decently well in that bed, even if we leave. He will have to learn to sleep in that bed within the next 9 months due to LO#2 needing the crib by June/July.

Only hitch is we need him to sleep in a pack-n-play during travel in October & November, and to sleep in a pack-n-play in the playroom in February when my mom comes to stay for a bit. Hotel beds are too big and fluffy for a toddler his age, IMO.

In the initial 6-12 months after moving your toddler to a toddler bed or real bed, could they sleep in a crib if necessary?
