Never completely nothing; but when DD first moved to 1 nap she barely ate during dinner since she was so cranky.

DD will skip her nap sometimes. I'll give her an afternoon snack and milk when she gets tired at 5-6 so she doesn't go to bed without anything in her stomach. She will also refuse dinner occasionally. I don't make her eat but I also won't give her anything else besides milk. She typically won't wake up overnight if she skips a meal and will just make it up the following day.

B ate nothing at dinner tonight. I didn't want him to go to bed without eating anything, though, so I made a "snack plate" of cheese, crackers, turkey, and grapes "in case anybody was still hungry" and he ate the whole thing. I wouldn't do it on a regular basis, but something was upsetting him at dinner.

@Boogs: We get up and start doing things in other rooms. He can't stand being left out and will usually eat. We've also threatened to give it to him again for breakfast but at 2 I don't think he gets the concept. We make him clean his plate (because he learned how to work the one bite system) but I try to be careful to give him really small servings.

We've been trying really hard to deal with the picky eating before DS 2 comes.

DS hasn't been eating much dinner this week - or breakfast for that matter - but apparently has been eating well at daycare so I assume he's getting enough? If he isn't hungry at breakfast after not eating dinner I'm like WHATEVER.

@brownepiano: That's been happening more lately. At a loss as to what to do. If it's a favorite food, it goes down quickly, other things, not so much.

@Boogs: It hasn't happened in a while but for us it was similar. We got tired of DS being super picky so we starting requiring that he at least try his dinner before getting down. There were a few nights where he just sat there till bedtime (about an hour) and still refused to eat supper so we just put him to bed.

@brownepiano: We've never had an actual refusal, more of a sitting around for far too long and just moving food around with the fork. After so much time, we've lost patience and off to bed.

Have you ever put your child to bed without dinner, on without eating their whole meal?

We've had a time or two where LO fell asleep at just the right time and slept through dinner and the next day.
