I think it's really common for the first few months for bedtime to be late. It tends to move up. But I say enjoy it while you can! (And I have one friend whose 2 year-old still follows this kind of schedule, and I'm totally jealous!)

I think you can use a late bedtime until/unless it seems like overall sleep is suffering. That's certainly not the case for you yet!

Dd had a 10pm bedtime until about 4 months which worked great for us because she would STTN until 8am. At 4 months she started pushing her bedtime up earlier (as her naps consolidated she would get tired for bed a lot earlier) by an hour or so every few weeks until it was 7pm at 6 months and that's where it's been ever since.

My son did fine with a later bed time until around 4 months he stopped sleeping in when going to bed later so we had to move things back a bit. Also when I went back to work a 730 wakeup time for him didn't work as I needed to be out the door by then so we had to move things back.

Thanks everyone! It's working well for us, so I will keep it up. But I'll watch for him needing an earlier bedtime.

I think that bedtime schedule is pretty good. Basically whatever works. We have an early bedtime, around 7 but only because I don't want to do the whole bedtime routine late when I'm tiered. My baby does wakeup around 9-10 to be fed. Bedtime for us just means getting the routine done.

When I was BF she was up a lot later than her current bedtime of 8. However, she's staying up on her own way past her bedtime right now, so I'm considering letting her drop her nap. She's 2.5.

If it works, I wouldn't worry about it. My LO went to bed around 9-10 at that age and now at almost 12 months, his bedtime is around 8:30. He sleeps through until 7am with maybe one wakeup once or twice a week. It works for us!

If it suits you then keep doing it! Your LO might start wanting an earlier bedtime when he's older but for now just roll with it. Lo went to sleep around 9/10pm I think at that age and around 6 months she was needing to be asleep at 8.

@Mrs.ThinMint: If it's working for you, I say keep going with it! You may find, like I did, that as he gets older he may naturally want/need an earlier bedtime. As a newborn, my LO was going to bed around that time, and bedtime progressively got earlier, to 7:30pm at 5.5 months. For my LO, it had to do more with his naps. As they get older, babies will naturally sleep longer stretches at night rather than during the day so I think that causes the shift in the earlier bedtime.
I used to worry that my LO was waking up too late at 8:30, 9am, even later.....I even posted about it once.....now he's up anywhere from 6-7:30am! It sucks. But I have to say the early bedtime is nice. It allows me to have a bit of a break after he goes to bed...... to answer your question, though, I don't think it's "wrong" to have a later bedtime. Whatever works for your family is the right thing!

My 3.5 month old DS is a pretty good sleeper. He eats at 10:30pm, sleeps until 4:30-5am to eat, then is up for the day at about 8. This schedule works really well for us. I like that we don't have to worry about an early bedtime or an early wake up time. On here I see a lot of babies with a very early bedtime. Is there a reason I should be putting him to bed early? He seems to be doing great with our schedule. I hate to rock the boat, but I don't want to be missing something. He's also going through a clingy phase, so I don't feel like he would sleep in his bassinet if we weren't in the room.
