I don't have much advice since we only room share if we are travelling--but what works is to have the TV on whilst LO is falling asleep until we want to come to bed, so any noises we make in the process are drowned out. Once we are settled for the night we turn the TV and lamp off.

Hmm, thanks! I guess we'll just have a few trial runs with varying levels of noise and light and see how it goes. She's a pretty sound day sleeper, so hopefully it'll work out!

My LO is 7.5 months and goes down for the night (in our bed) around 730 ish. I go to bed anywhere between 930 and 11. No matter what, he wakes around 10-1030 to eat.

We can walk in and out of the bedroom, fold laundry, talk, keep the lights on, etc. and he sleeps through it all. We do have white noise blasting and it's pretty effective.

@Foodnerd81: she wakes up when we go in. We try to be quiet, but she has only stayed asleep maybe a couple of times.

Eta: i think she is a light sleeper, but it's also her habit now. If we don't go in at 10, she will sometimes sleep a little longer, but wakes up within 30 min or so

@Silva: Do you intentionally wake her up, or she just wakes when you are moving around?

@miapugs: C is in her own room now, but when she was in our room we were just really quiet when we came in, kept the lights out, and the white noise was loud enough to cover the quiet sounds we made as we got into bed. But she was so young that she slept a lot deeper. Now if we room share we sneak in SO quietly, I could never do it every night.

Our daughter starts the night in a crib in our room. She sleeps from about 7 until 10. She wakes up when we go to bed at 10, I feed her, and pull her in to bed with us. I figure it makes it more likely for her to sleep for a longer stretch, since she has just eaten when she joins us in bed at 10. Kind of like a dream feed, but she definitely is awake

LO sleeps in a bassinet next to our bed and has been going to bed at the same time as DH and me, but I know I need to establish an earlier bedtime for her before I go back to work and she starts daycare. The problem is, I'm definitely not ready to go to bed at 7, and am afraid we'll wake her up if we come in and get ready for bed a couple of hours later. How do those of you room sharing deal with this issue? Thanks for your suggestions!
